Its Montana, national media always ignores what is going on here unless the rest of the country is totally quiet for news.

Remember MT your live in fly over country, only news we hear about your state is when a Republican beats up on a reporter.

Those shots sure bring home to me how bad it is, and I live here in Missoula, fairly close to the Lolo Peak fire. I've taken some shots of the smoke plumes from that fire as viewed near my home, and posted on UHH. The smoke/air quality in Missoula has been bad for the most part, and we feel the effects of it on our eyes and lungs. The poor people who live in and south of Lolo have had it so much worse.

The smoke from the fire near Seeley Lake, north of Missoula, hasn't bothered us here as far as I know, but the folks in that town have been advised to evacuate their homes because the smoke is so very bad there. When you can hardly see across the street, you know it's bad!

Both of these events could be a result of climate change. Climate models predict more water in the atmosphere resulting in more frequent and more severe storms and shifting precipitation patterns. Some areas are getting wetter and some drier. Forests become grasslands and grasslands desert. Some areas will get much wetter. but the question is whether or not vegetation can move fast enough to avoid extinction?

The problem with Harvey is that once it hit land it pretty much stopped in one placed and dumped all of its water on Houston and the surrounding area rather than moving inland and spreading its content around.

My home state, on fire. Last I heard, 900,000 acres burned, with more to come. Don't know if my heart can take this.

The total acreage burned passed one million acres on Wednesday this week.
Nothing but winter will finally extinguish these fires now.
