Hi Folks, well leave it to a Hurricane to cut short our Florida Vacation. My wife and I stayed at Treasure Island of the Gulf side for 3 days, then went to Disney for 2 days but cut that Disney visit short to one day so we could get the heck out. These are some photos I took on our journey North back to Nashville. It took us nearly 16 hours split into 2 days to get home. I feel sorry for those still trying to get out. We ran into gas shortages, many stations were out. Motels are full and people are sleeping in their cars at Rest Areas. This is a very serious situation and my thoughts and prayers will be for those who are trying to get out and those who couldn't make it out. It was a sobering, long, stressful and sad trip home. Needless to say, the "Magic" from being at the Magic Kingdom quickly faded away. Good Luck to all you people in Florida and Georgia.

Yes, we got out as did a lot of people. And I thank God. My prayers are for those who can't leave or can't get out. Praying they will be OK.

I have to be a little cynical here. It will be another more than likely tragic disaster in one way or another. All i ask is that sure those electric guys are heading into harms way but if people like me in the BIG trucks dont haul them supplys like transformers and such and food and water and what ever else they need then they might as well stay home. Soooo please at least occasionally include an 18 wheeler in the list of heroes. We give up just as much if not more everyday keeping the country supplied with all theirs wants and needs. Including ups bringing gas products

I agree...anyone who goes that extra mile to get supplies in. Anyone who helps others in times of need in any way is a hero. Thanks for keeping America supplied. Oh, and while I'm at it, thanks to those engineers (like me) who labored long hours and for many years in college to learn advanced math, science and physics so they could design those big rigs.

I know John, we love visiting Florida too for the beaches. Let's hope for the best but things are looking serious. Could be statewide damage.

Thanks Jim...I think the hardest thing I saw was and elderly couple at a rest stop. Their car packed as full as they could get it with belongings. He was using a walker to stretch his legs while she helped him along with their small dog on a leash. This hurricane is changing and threatening a lot of lives.

We're glad to be home too. The ride back was so stressful, we were always on the look out for gas to make sure we could keep going. A few cars were abandoned (probably out of gas) on the shoulder and we were aware that could be us.

Yes, keep praying...the folks of Florida need all the help they can get and in any form.
