Hurricanes do not play nice James. I have been thru to many of them. Already 29,000 people without power and hurricane force winds are not there yet. We have friends in Bradenton, about 70 miles south of Tampa, they were going to stay, we could not talk them out of it. My wife received a text from them this morning, that had a change of heart and was 100 miles from Macon, Ga. heading north to Kentucky. Latest hurricane track I saw had Irma heading toward Tampa area.

I'm glad you and your wife are safe, James. My heart goes out to our brothers and sisters in Houston, Florida and every other area impacted by recent catastrophic weather.

I found your photos sad, though well taken. I am happy you and your wife are safe, but my heart goes out to those who were not able to leave.

Glad to hear you and your wife made it home OK.

In every news report where they showed traffic jambs I was surprised they hadn't reversed some of the oncoming traffic lanes.

I hope the folks who stayed behind don't regret it.

Glad you made it out okay, and hope the storm isn't as bad as forecast. Still going to make a mess and seriously inconvenience a lot of people. Stay safe!

Hi Folks, well leave it to a Hurricane to cut short our Florida Vacation. My wife and I stayed at Treasure Island of the Gulf side for 3 days, then went to Disney for 2 days but cut that Disney visit short to one day so we could get the heck out. These are some photos I took on our journey North back to Nashville. It took us nearly 16 hours split into 2 days to get home. I feel sorry for those still trying to get out. We ran into gas shortages, many stations were out. Motels are full and people are sleeping in their cars at Rest Areas. This is a very serious situation and my thoughts and prayers will be for those who are trying to get out and those who couldn't make it out. It was a sobering, long, stressful and sad trip home. Needless to say, the "Magic" from being at the Magic Kingdom quickly faded away. Good Luck to all you people in Florida and Georgia.

So sorry about your vacation James, but very glad that you guys made it back home safe, and like you am very concerned for all the people still in danger, and sorry for all the damage that's sure to occur. We should all be thankful for those that are still there helping and hope that many will join them in the many ways needed for a successful recovery!

It wasn't a total loss Bob. At least we got to spend some time at the Treasure Island/Tampa Bay area. I have tons of memories and the same number of photos. Spent some time at John's Pass and got some good Pelican shots. We ate at Spinner's (a roof top restaurant) where I got to spend a ton of money. They served the best steak I've had in 10 years.

So glad you got to have some fun and get some shots...we love it there!!
