I am not a big fan of post processing and don't do much except minor tweaking. This is an exception,
where I colorized the original. Would like UHHers opinion on which they prefer as an addition to my portfolio.
THANKS! >Alan

Antique Mailboxes

I think a pure B&W with NO color would be my preference.

i'd go for a straight black and white. You also might want to crop the photo so that the first object that strikes the eye of the beholder is the second knob. The first one is not in focus. It's ok to have a line of items go off into the distance progressively becoming less in focus, but to have your first object of the set out of focus simply does not work, unless you have other aesthetic considerations in mind.

Antiqued photo was the one that caught my eye!

The first one is better. A mistake often made is that sepia is intended to make the subject appear older. In fact, all it does is to make the pic look older. Does The Great Wall of China look older in Sepia?

Thanks very much. >Alan

Hoffman,
I have had a similar thought. I will try that. The subject of the photo is located in a place that I go frequently, so re-shooting it with the first knob in focus is an option I am considering too. Your suggested treatment is shown here. The original was shot with my iPhone SE, but if I re-shoot, I will do it with my DSLR and a tripod to provide better control of focus and depth of field.

Thanks very much for your thoughts. >Alan

Neither one, and as for being mail boxes, you fooled me - lacks subject coverage. Now, it's just a series of un-sharp dials (except 2nd dial), due to angle taken.

Sorry it didn't speak to you, but thanks very much for your thought. >Alan

I think you can get both things you want by going B&W

I hear you, but it's not sepia. It's colorized with a gold hue. In any case, thanks for your response. >Alan

Second one ... the first is too monochromatic. Actually, these are still current. I use one.

Thanks. I had no idea any of these were still in use. >Alan
