Almost all of my childhood "memories" were formed by seeing the photos my Dad took from the time I was born -- and I think I have continued the family tradition for the same reason: to help me remember important or even funny family events, vacations, friends, etc.

One of the reasons I take pictures is that I buy blank calendars which have space for 4x6 pictures I take at garden shows and at the Rose Parade viewing area the day after the parade. The calendars are for family members and some photographer friends of mine. The floral displays of the floats are superb.

Just today I looked at the first pictures I ever took, in 1955 with my new Brownie camera, at age 8 They were our house, my Mom/Dad/sister, my Grandmother, and our car. I think that is where most kids would start -- and would include a pet if they have one.

My first camera was Ansco 620, 1956, age 8 with Tower darkroom. God was cloning us.

It makes me happy (whether I get a great shot or not). I matted, framed and sold them. Now I make magnets for the fridge, make cards to send or give away, play with them in Elements or Lightroom, put class reunions and get togethers on my web site (which I need to work on), got the stuff to print squares for a quilt or pillow cover but haven't done it yet, use the left overs to help fill my "put it in here and close the door so I can't see all the stuff I need to do" room.
