My wife and I recently returned from a Viking River Cruise beginning in Budapest and ending in Amsterdam. We found Budapest to be a "hidden" gem. It is a wonderful city very reminescent of Paris. The Danube flows through the city, with beautiful bridges and buildings colorfully lit at night. Andrassy Avenue is considered the Champs Elysee of Budapest by some. Of course, it is a large city and cannot escape the grafitti, homelessness and other characteristics unfortunaely associated with any city. Here are a few photos in which I hope to capture the flavor of the city. In the coming weeks, I will post many more of Budapest and the other cities we visited on our way to Amsterdam. I hope you enjoy. As always, comments and criticism welcome.

Very nice pictures. The last one is sad. Do you know one side of the river is Budda and the other side Pest??

Thank you Mary Kate. Sad indeed. Unfortunately common in all big cities. Yes, we visited both sides.

Beautiful shots, and you captured the good and the not so good. That Danube river cruise is on our bucket list. Can't wait to see your next posting.

Thank you. When I travel I try to capture the "atmosphere" along with the typical travel photos.

Beautiful travel photos. Your #1 night photo is glorious and well done. Your last shot, the B & W is perfect for the subject.

Thank you Steve. I appreciate your comments. And, the Danube is magical at night. Glad you liked the B & W. Although very sad, it is one of my favorite shots.
