Spent most of last week combing through the mountains of Southwest Colorado. We visited historic mining towns like Ouray, Telluride, Silverton and several old mining ghost towns. One of the always fun side trips for me is driving the Last Dollar Road. Weather was mostly good this day and so was the road. After you crest and head down to Deep Creek, the road is impassable except for high clearance 4X4's. I know, I tried...huge, deep mud holes washed out the road!

A super series which I enjoyed very much jederick! I love the beauty of the wildflowers and mountain scenery.

Thank You to everyone for looking and leaving the many nice comments! I appreciate your enthusiasm for this series of photos. There are more to come from out visits to ghost towns and old abandoned gold mines in this area. We are very fortunate for living close to so many great sites, and having the time to visit these sites.

Many thanks again.

Wonderful photos and memories you have captured. Years ago when there, I was in absolute awe of the beauty and smells. Enjoyed so much.

Lived in Durango for 15 years and traveled Last Dollar Road many times. I take it that you did not go over Black Bear Pass above Telluride. It is scary!

I was in Telluride 30+ years ago and was driving a 1979 Ford Bronco 4x4. I saw Black Bear Pass and said "no way". I had driven other jeep trails, but I wouldn't do this one.

Hey there! Long time no see!
I thought about you the other day when I was on the island. Wondering if you've been there lately. Kinda slow. Actually, very slow out there.

That looks like a Great trip you had and great photos!
It's one I've wanted to do for a long time.

Very nice collection of excellent pictures from the kind of roads I like - - much more interesting and uplifting than the Interstates. Thanks for sharing.
