I use an Epson WF-4630 that really doesn't print photos all that well. Any suggestions as to a printer that a non-professional photographer can use to get decent 8X10's or 8 1/2X11's?

The Canon PIXMA PRO-100 is popular (sizes up to 13x19" I think). But if like other similar Canon printers it drinks ink! There are Epson printers that have large capacity ink reservoirs, But these models are not exactly cheap. The words "cheap" and "non-professional" do not go well with photography.

Canon Pixma pro 100 does an excelent job. The printer s not that expensive but they get you for the ink just like Epson, as I also have two Epson WF-3640 printers and your right the picture prints are not that great but the printer does just fine for other general purpose printing.

Your WF-4630 is an all-in-one printer, which are not recommended for a dedicated photo printing. You may want to look at the Epson Artisan 1430. Mine does an excellent job.

The Pixma Pro 100 is great for photo printing but socks for general printing.
The Canon TS 9020 printer does an excellent job for both general and photo printing, up to 8.5 X 11 and the ink is not outrageously expensive.
I own a Pixma Pro 10 I use for up to 13 X 19 archival quality photo prints. A Pixma Pro 100 for up to 13 X 19 high quality photo prints and the TS 9020 I use for 4 X 6, 5 X 7 and 8.5 X 11 photo prints and all plain paper printing.

Allright, pay attention. Amazon has 4 only - yes that is right Four Pixma Pro 100 Printers with a 50 pack of 13 X 19 paper for $177 - that is 1/2 the normal price of 379. The printer is being sold by Canon so I suspect it is a USA warantee. You must look at this printer and decide for yourself the worth - I have done no more than find it.

Before you buy, know that a set of cartridges will cost $120 for Canon or $60 for LD Ink.

This is an unbeatable price. If I didn't already have one I would get it quick. I've had my 100 for a few years and have great luck with it. I use LD ink and I can't tell the difference. Good luck

All photo realistic printers drink ink, in sizable quantities. The Pixma Pro-100 is an incredible printer. I've had one for 3 years and it is completely trouble free. Unlike the Epson I used to have.

Bob, The best printer I use is COSTCO. Don't have to worry about ink and I can download their profile to allow me to get what I see on my monitor.Plus I get a Silver Gelatin Fuji print.To choices for finish, glossy or luster.

But the ink last a long time and worth the price

It's true the ink does last for a long time, also I have let the printer stand idle for extended periods of time, (like between 3 to 6 weeks) without printing a photo and have not had any clogged print head issues. Also if you use lightroom you can configure it for your printer.

I have had an Epson 1400 for years and it finally died. Printed awesome pictures. Just purchased the Artisan 1430, uses the same ink as the 1400 and the photos printed are excellent. Hope I get as many years of printing with this one as I did the 1400. Highly recommend the 1430.

I have an Epson XP-960 and I am extremely happy with this printer. It will print up to 11 X 14's. The photo quality is excellent!
