First: I writing about Nikon F with Photomic FLN light meter which is a film camera. Not a DSLR Nikon. Made around 1972. Len use: Nikkor-H.C Auto 1:2 50mm lens.
Camera is heavy vs. other cameras I have. Light meter not working, because it use the old mercury battery. Don't use a replacement battery. Light meter will be off and would damage the Photomic. So you have to use 16 rules of light. Everything on the camera is manual. So all you DSLR people back to school to relearn how to work a manual SLR camera. Use 400 speed film. Took pictures of people at outdoor party. people in the sun, people under tents, under trees. Kids running around. So I was moving around a lot to get a picture. Everything was done by hand holding the camera. Did not kept pictures, neglects gave them to the people who held the party. If you want to use one of legendary in the camera world, find a Nikon F and use it.

Batteries are readily available. Not cheap, though.

I also use the F with ftn finder. Also a Nikon FE, F3, and Nikkormat ft2. I still enjoy shooting film, and develop my black and white film at home.
F2 is great camera and very collectable. Sold mine on e-bay a long time ago... got a fair price for it at the time. Could never seem to sell my F3HP's... Still have them somewhere, same issue with the batteries expensive and hard to find.

Both the F2 and F3 use silver oxide batteries which are still available and cost about $6 for a set of two and would last for at least a year.
I still have an F,F2as,F3,F4 and F5, F6. Haven't used them in some time but just can't part wit them
In the first place, what is "16 rules of light?" I cannot remember the use of that term. I know what "sunny 16" is though.
I still keep my Nikon F of 1963. I hardly use it because digital is far more convenient. It is not easy for me to find a lab that wants to develop color film. I will never trust my b&w negatives to a lab, that is something that I have to develop myself.
I cannot speak on behalf of others but film is not a substitute for digital in my photography. I have to end up scanning the negatives to work them with digital so why not working with digital and avoid a second generation of images?
List one good reason to go back to film.

Great old camera. Don't bother with the meter or batteries, just use a modern hand held light meter. I have the same problem with my Pentax Spotmatic, it uses those banished 1.35 v Mercury Oxide batteries. I just use a Gossen Luna-Six meter or a Minolta Spot Meter. There are many other meters that can do the job as well.
just gor a mint - F3 fabulous
I too have a Nikon F. It took great photos. Oh, and the light meter does not work.
None of my business, but may I ask what was the fair price? I would like to sell mine.

My Nikon "F" brings back great memories of Washington DC, The White House and events of the day. Don't miss film and the stink of the darkroom.
Digital rules!! Sorry Guys.
