I have and F-haven't used it for a while and am willing to part with it at this point as 35mm film cameras can't compare to full frame digital. If I was going to shoot film (which I think is wonderful) I think I would opt for a used medium format camera or even large format for its superb landscape capabilities.

First: I writing about Nikon F with Photomic FLN light meter which is a film camera. Not a DSLR Nikon. Made around 1972. Len use: Nikkor-H.C Auto 1:2 50mm lens.
Camera is heavy vs. other cameras I have. Light meter not working, because it use the old mercury battery. Don't use a replacement battery. Light meter will be off and would damage the Photomic. So you have to use 16 rules of light. Everything on the camera is manual. So all you DSLR people back to school to relearn how to work a manual SLR camera. Use 400 speed film. Took pictures of people at outdoor party. people in the sun, people under tents, under trees. Kids running around. So I was moving around a lot to get a picture. Everything was done by hand holding the camera. Did not kept pictures, neglects gave them to the people who held the party. If you want to use one of legendary in the camera world, find a Nikon F and use it.

Good to see somebody is still using this legendary Nikon Ftn, I got mine in the early 1970 plus a Nikkormat Ftn. I still can find the battery for both in Radio Shack or from Amazon, it's alkaline battery, # 625A.
I still have several Nikkor lenses & couple from other brand. I can use them all on my Df & D200 (after some modification)

In the picture shows here are the Nikkor 35mm f2.8; Nikkor 43-86mm f3.5; Nikkor 135mm f2.8. I also have the Tokina AT 28-80mm ; Vivitar 70-210mm f3.5 Ser.-1.

I got my first Nikon F with the Photomic FTN metering head in 1969 and used it for 10 years, then traded in ALL the Nikon gear & lenses to buy a Pentax 6x7 which I still have and use. Over the years I acquired and got rid of various 35mm SLRs to use as backups. Most notable was an Olympus OM-2 and OM-10 (as backup). About 10 years ago I bought another F/FTN on eBay but the meter head was dead. Got a CLA on the camera and bought a pentaprism head and some lenses, used it for a while but with my D5000 DSLR I didn't need another film camera other than the big Pentax so I sold the F to KEH. Sold off most of the Olympus gear also. 2-3 years ago I picked up a Nikon FE (with motor drive) in an auction lot that went for a total of $40!! Today I use the FE, the 6x7, and have upgraded the DSLR to a D7100. BTW the new Nikkor 10-20 zoom (15-30 full frame equivalent) is fabulously sharp and extraordinarily free of distortion for a near fish-eye focal length lens. And a bargain at just over $300. Right now I have Velvia 100 in the FE, Ilford Pan F (need bright light AND my tripod) in the big Pentax, and am anticipating Kodak UK's promised reintroduction of Ektachrome this fall.

Sorry for the overlong reply.

Camerapapi: 16 rules of light is what you call sunny 16. Each to their own.
Cthahn: One most think, one has only one chance to get that picture, so one has to think to do it right. No going to one's computer to fake a picture. If that not a good reason, I don't what to tell you.
Lamiaceae: I using a Pentax Spotmatic as I am writing this reply. Lens: Sears 1:1.4 55mm and for long ranger work Sears 1:3.5 200mm with a Vivirar Converter 2X.
Sodapop: Plain Jane Nikon F with 50 mm lens. $150 to $200.00. .Put that camera back on line and use it.
Leopardo: If you are looking for camera for landsocape work. I have a few 120mm film cameras for sale.

It looks great but you should remove that flash adapter and use a flash that was made for it.

Looks great. The adapter I believe was made for Nikon and standard hot shoe flashes.

I have not used my 35mm film cameras in years. I still have three, plus a couple vintage nearly antique ones. I still have two 4x5" view cameras. I do plan on using the 4x5" film cameras again, or I better, as my wife let me buy more lenses for them.

Beautiful!
(sort of has a "Steam-Punk" look to it)
Used one myself for sports at a paper I worked for.
Not exactly ergonomic.
The chief photog had an F2 with motor drive.

Did you get your index finger repositioned after using the F?
(for those who don't know, the release button on the F is at the back of the top cover.)
