It is a powerful software, but the only thing I don't like about it is their persona approach to editing.

Can you please clarify "persona approach"? I'm considering Affinity and thus very interested in hearing from people who have used it.

I've been using Affinity for a number of months now. To me the appeal is that it's much more intuitive to use than LR an PS. Won't take years to learn how to use as some have said about LR and PS. It's built on a modern cohesive platform as opposed to software adapted and added on to for years, like an old house with a dozen additions that one can't find your way around in. It's fast and less resource demanding on the computer. It does more than enough for me and likely most people, while also likely less likely to discourage new users to post processing. The tutorials are very good, it takes Topaz plugins, and is not subscription based. The Affinity app for IPads is without an equal and can sync with the Mac version.

It is the real deal. Mac, PC, and now iPad Pro versions are available.

Tony Northrup has a video on YouTube I watched last night, regarding the new iPad Pro and Lightroom Mobile and Affinity running on it.

Thanks for the information. It sounds encouraging and I for one will try it.

Forgive me. I had no intention of trying to insult you or anyone else.

My point is that I have spent a fair amount of time learning the vast set of tools in the Lightroom/Photoshop combo. Yet, if there are more "powerful" tools elsewhere I would love to know what they are.

It is easy to understand that something is cheaper. I was buying Photoshop Elements every other edition and owned Lightroom 5. So, I was spending about $100 a year (plus or minus a little).

When you wrote "It [Affinity]is very good and very powerful", I was hoping you would provide some specific examples of what you like enough that you would give such a good endorsement.

Again, please don't take offense!

I never said that Affinity Photo was more powerful or better than Adobe products. That came from your mind and your thought process. The same with unique, I never said that, you threw unique in there on your own.
Adobe products are probably the best on the market and most likely a necessity for professional photographers (they can probably write off the cost as a business expense). But I doubt that many non-professional photographers really need all that power (and the cost) that comes with Adobe products.
Affinity Photo IS very good and very powerful as are Macphun products. I use both. I was responding to to a question asked by the OP, not trying to convince anyone to drop Adobe.
If you are happy with Adobe products and their cost ($120 after a year, $360 after 3 years, $600 after 5 years) stay with them. But that doesn't mean that there aren't other editing programs that are very good and very powerful available.

The explanation for persona can be found here https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/5276-persona-in-affinity-photo/ and involves stages of image manipulation.

Julian. I began using Affinity about 3-4 months ago. I fell deeply in love. Does everything PS does and some of it better. I had some images of the tower of Pisa and wanted to get rid of all the tourist signs and the tourists. I had been using PS, cloning and healing brushes. So I decided to try the same thing with Affinity. The inpainting brush did the job much better and easier. Since then I've discovered several other tools that are better. Masking, especially for detail--like flyaway hair on a person's head, or tree branches--is also better or easier.

PS is old technology. Affinity has more recent programming. It shows.

Also, you don't have to put up with Adobe.

Would you rather they called it something else? I'm not sure I know what you mean.

For those interested in Affinity software here is Affinity's free education material https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10119-official-affinity-photo-desktop-video-tutorials-200/ and I advise you to review it before becoming confused without this knowledge.

Tool kit almost the same so if you know PS then Affinity is similar.

I also would like to know what happens to all my processed images? Can I see them, and readjust them in Affinity, or do I have to keep LRcc alive at $10/month, or export ALL of them to my hard drive pictures file?

Affinity Photo can read the PSD file, however they have one bug they are working on, it can't handle smart objects yet.

Thanks Bruce for taking the time to provide the link. It is very comprehensive and everything we ever want to know and learn seems to be there. I have watched two 20 minute videos and I am impressed. All I now need is time. Thanks again.
