Wow! I just downloaded and sampled the trial version of Affinity and I am impressed. Am I getting ahead of myself on this one? Comments and recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks

Take your time, watch the tutorial videos, there's a lot there. I think you will love it.

It is very good and very powerful, and much less expensive than Adobe products.

The real question is this; Can Adobe files be brought into or used by Affinity??

Which unique capabilities are powerful?

Great piece of software and very comprehensive, handles RAW files really well.. They have a large set of training videos as well. Give yourself some time to learn the basics.

Forgive me. I had no intention of trying to insult you or anyone else.

My point is that I have spent a fair amount of time learning the vast set of tools in the Lightroom/Photoshop combo. Yet, if there are more "powerful" tools elsewhere I would love to know what they are.

It is easy to understand that something is cheaper. I was buying Photoshop Elements every other edition and owned Lightroom 5. So, I was spending about $100 a year (plus or minus a little).

When you wrote "It [Affinity]is very good and very powerful", I was hoping you would provide some specific examples of what you like enough that you would give such a good endorsement.

Again, please don't take offense!

Get the trial version... it is free and perhaps will answer all of your questions; you seem to be the expert. I don't intend to enumerate all of its features since I just downloaded.

OK. I am not sure what I wrote that makes you think I perceive myself an expert. Since this topic is about Affinity, I was hoping that it would highlight some Affinity strengths. I'm sincerely curious and interested.

So, my question here is if there are specific things in Affinity that are truly unique or special.

I could download, install and study Affinity. But, it took me months to understand and enjoy using Lightroom. There is no way I would gain a thorough understanding of Affinity without serious focus.

Julian, please consider posting what you like about Affinity as you use and learn it. Thanks.

Yes many of them,
if you use lightroom you might like this

http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/jbeardsworth/opendirectly/index.php?sec=install

as an unregistered plugin it will let lightroom directly pass the raw file to the editor of your choosing e.g affinity photo. Usually lightroom prefers to pass a tiff file.
