leonardb,

I have said this same thing in other posts but the "intrenched mental obstructionism" by both parties - being at fault - they like the way current members of Congress piss on our leg, so, why keep them in office for ever - because they need to envision it isn't raining outside. That is not a solution and I don't appreciate the do nothing Republicans making it even worse - compromise is and always has been the norm so if the Republicans don't want to compromise - vote them out of office. I will be trying to do just that.
I feel the dampness and the smell of ammonia on my leg when someone is pissing on one's leg. It's like they (Republicans) will not objectively see the forest for the trees. I't not in their ability to see clearly. Are Republicans looking through rose colored glasses? If so, they may be looking foolish doing so soon.
Term limits may not be the entire answer but I think it would be a good start for Congress.
It's going to be very interesting to see what the Republicans will say and do when they find they lost the Presidency and maybe some Senate and House seats along the way because they were obstructionists.
There are no angles in politics but I make a choice (an informed political decision) from what I read and follow here on the forum and elsewhere. I choose term limits for the Congress - just like the President has and vote for another four year term for Obama. God bless and may he guide our country to a better tomorrow.

A letter from Jim DeMint, one of our representatives from South Carolina

Dear Friend,

The Supreme Court may have failed to stop this government takeover of health care, but the American people will not. Since the day this law was rammed through Congress, the American people have demanded repeal, and today’s ruling doesn’t make Obamacare any less dangerous to our nation’s health. Freedom-loving Americans are disappointed, but we cannot be discouraged.

The President's health care law must be fully repealed as all of its promises have proven false. We were told it was not a tax hike, but this ruling confirms it is an unprecedented and enormous tax on the poor and middle class Americans. President Obama needs to explain why he is enacting this middle class tax hike over the objections of the American people during the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression.

We were told it would lower health costs, but health care premiums are exploding. We were told that Americans could keep their personal health plans, but millions will now lose it. We were told it would improve our economy, but it is now the largest obstacle to employers hiring new workers.

This government takeover of health care remains as destructive, unsustainable, and unconstitutional as it was the day it was passed, unread, by a since-fired congressional majority. Now as then, our first step toward real health care reform and economic renewal remains Obamacare's full repeal, down to the last letter and punctuation mark.

I urge every governor to stop implementing the health care exchanges that would help implement the harmful effects of this misguided law. Americans have loudly rejected this federal takeover of health care, and governors should join with the people and reject its implementation.

The Presidents health care law will not reform anything, but is already undermining what does still work in America’s health care system. We cannot build a free market health care system on this flawed structure of centralized government control, we must repeal all of it and start over with commonsense solutions that make health care more affordable and accessible for every American. We can allow Americans to purchase lower cost plans from other states, support state high-risk pools to cover those with pre-existing conditions, medical-malpractice reform to end frivolous lawsuits, and tax equity so Americans who don’t get their health insurance from an employer are not penalized.

Today's decision, however unfortunate, nonetheless represents an opportunity to all Americans, to claim their right to create a health care system of, for, and by the people, not government or special interests. The American people now have the chance and Congress has the responsibility to fully repeal this Washington takeover and reform health care ourselves, together, around the principles of individual liberty, not government mandates.

The same freedom that made America strong and prosperous will make us healthier, too, so long as politicians remember that the health care system is supposed to serve our people, and not the other way around.

Sincerely,

Jim DeMint (R-SC)

BO is totally for the people with no money to give them a free ride !!
If you think different then you don't pay any attention to what he says.
Therefore, Who do you think is going to end up paying for them??

Mr. DeMint can only spout talking points and state his "position" in bland generalized statements. He can't say anything specific about reforming health care because he and the republican party do not have any plans. Nothing said in this letter is new - nothing is visionary and nothing herein points to or declares any specifics.....It's all smoke and mirrors once more - when will we the people wake up and see the truth. I agree the Health care plan is flawed. It could be much better if Mr. DeMint and his brothers had bothered to participate. They didn't and now it's sorry grapes time......send in the clowns

We are not required to pay for homeowners insurance, yet! Only if it is still owed by the bank. I live in CO and believe me at least 40% do not have auto insurance. Get hit by someone here and see who's insurance pays for it. LOL

It appears that Mr DeMint thinks that it is better for private, for profit insurance companies to control our healthcare, and make medical decisions based upon their profit margins.
I wonder how much DeMint gets from them in campaign contributions.

I personally have wonderful healthcover (that's to my husband's company) and don't worry about costs as it's all covered 100% but I see what the company I work for charges the employees for so-so coverage and my jaw hits the floor. I have no idea how an average middle class family can afford something so basic as good health care. For a country that prides it's self on family values and being a wealthy nation, it falls so very short on some very basic human needs.

Most 1st world countries have a national healthcare system, the cost per capita is lower on average than the cost of health care per capita in the US. As well as nation those countries with nationalised care are healthier overall. I fail to understand why as a nation you are against something that will benefit everyone.
all these comments about "if you don't drive ... (show quote)

You and I agree on a lot of things, but as far as healthcare goes we differ.
You have good coverage and say don't worry because it's covered 100%. Did you think about who pays for it?
I don't have a problem with everyone having healthcare. I have a problem with how it gets paid for.
Government does not know how to run a business.
Business owners have to watch carefully their bank balance and make decisions based on that and hope never to run out.
Government cares nothing about a bank account as they print more or take more or even borrow more when they run out knowing someone will be there to cover them. Mostly under duress as tax payers not having a choice to pay up.
And a government running a health care plan doesn't care about keeping costs down. They decide who gets treated and who gets the pain pill as BO gladly stated to a woman who asked about a pacemaker for her mother.
And it isn't the house or senate who takes the cases and determines what they will cover for everyone, it's a panel of 15 appointed people who have no medical experience.
The list goes on but these are the major points.

The preexisting condition provisions finally keep my premiums from going up 15 to 25% per year, I finally get a small tax credit for providing health insurance, and I am able to keep my son on my policy by paying his premiums until he is 26.
