Yes, I am too. Every time I click on a topic I expect it. Does not happen every time but it does happen every day. I have a three strike rule. The third time it happens, I'm done for the day.

What kind of computer are you using? Is it a PC or a Mac?

People really need to say which because they both use different browsers and one can not trouble shoot an issue intelligently without knowing what kind of machine they are dealing with. Otherwise, without specific information about the problem we are all going around in the fog of conjecture.

It happens to me on several sites using Firefox running on a Toshiba laptop. Sometimes I have to shut down and restart. I think rmalarz is correct in that it is the unwanted ads that cause it. I do not know how to avoid it, though.

I am on a semi-custom gamer by iBuyPower. Core i7, 16GB RAM and 2GB on the video card, SSD for the C drive and running Windows 10 Professional, latest build and upgrades as of last night using Chrome.

I am getting the same kinds of things almost anywhere I am on the net. Often with an error message about Flash. Screen freezes, flickers, jumps around, refreshes at random times. Etc Etc Etc
It has started since sites, including UHH, started pleading to turn off Ad Blocker because the Ads are what makes the site free. Now I often have over half my screen covered in ads and pop ups etc. and all these things keep happening. A lot of animated ads, video etc - often starting to run on their own and sometimes 2 or 3 at once.

I do believe I will check for upgrades on Ad Blocker and turn it back on with no exceptions. If they don't want me to see their sites without Ads, then I don't really want to see their sites much. One or two "small" ads in view at a time is OK. But when one ad goes all the way across the monitor and takes up 25% vertically, often with animations and/or video that is too much. Esp when there are two, three, four more on the page also.

It's more than likely a script used to run ads on this site. The script may not be local and running on a remote server, which in turn is calling data from another server. If any of those connections is slow, overloaded, etc., it will cause an inordinate delay and an advisory will appear notifying you of a long running script. In most cases, the admins of this site have no control over that issue.

Thanks for the explanation of something at least, it's happened only occasionally, but confirms your explanation since
after any session Ccleaner flashes furiously. Windows10 has been difficult though as they have changed some things
so watch for the feedback notice and any surprises ....And now, after it seems some major work on security, there
was a notice a few days ago they will be doing something significant in Sept. It's just the "little stuff" for which
there is no clear answer, or that looks some way threatening where we need explanations as to source....they can be
very unsettling.
