It was 104 degrees out there today, and not a creature was stirring (except for me and a dragonfly). There was no way that I could get him in flight, so the moment he landed on a barb wire fence, I fired away. I had my 400mm telephoto lens on the camera, so I really couldn't get very close to him (big lens won't focus up close), and most all my shots were blurry except this one. On a slow hot afternoon, I'll take anything I can get.

Sharp as a tack! Do you ever get to the tropics, where dragonflies (and frogs!) are such bright colors?

What we deal with to get the perfect shot... and that's what you did!!
Mike, you're a brave man to venture out in that heat, but it was worth it.... but maybe you should play indoors a little to stay cool!!

You only needed the one Mike, great shot. Hope you went inside and had a cold one, shower/drink or both.
