I use a Tamron expedition 7 series it has a built in rain fly on the zippers to carry all my gear . Mostly legacy glass it's heavy . When I back packed it worst problem is you have to take it off your back to. Access anything in it .I now use it to carry all the gear in the car and wear what I need on a police style belt with individual ballistic style pouches much more accessible. I Think shoulder bags are uncomfortable and can wear you out a long hike. Your hips can carry way more weight comfortably than a bag or backpack .If I had it to do over a large pro bag to get there and the belt to carry. In the winter a camera vest with lots of pockets and the belt is great.

The Lowepro Magnum series shoulder bags are the strongest shoulder bags I have ever handled. They have a one-piece molded bottom that is strong and can take a lot of weight. I have the Magnum 200 AW bag. It's a fairly large bag. The 400 AW and 650 AW are even larger. They have a rain cover that pulls out of a pocket. Here is how they describe the capacity of the bags.

Lowepro Magnum 200 AW 1 Pro DSLR 4-5 lenses
Lowepro Magnum 400 AW 1-2 Pro DSLR, 7-9 lenses
Lowepro Magnum 650 AW 1-2 Pro DSLR, 9-11 lenses
The Lowepro Magnum series shoulder bags are the st... (show quote)

Agreed. Lowepro bags are used by many top professionals in the photographic and video production industries. >Alan

Old bags are the best.... They've been around...... We've beat this one to death a million times but to add my 2 cents worth, I wouldn't trade my Domke F2 for anything. Speaking of old bags, I've had mine for almost 7? 8? years. It was great before and now it's really getting to the point where it has that comfortable 'broken-in' feeling.

Hello Strofam - Check out the Tenba messenger professional camera bags. I purchased one recently. Great design. This bag is like a briefcase with the foldover top. However, there is a zipper across the top when it is folded over. This allows you to access the camera without opening the flap. It comes with a rain fly. Another great feature: the inside main section (compartmented box) lifts out. Now the bag is a briefcase and your 15" laptop can go in instead, or as well, completely protected. Lots of thought out pockets including H2O on the outside. A very comfortable shoulder strap that has a side support if you were on your bike, as well as a hand held strap. All the zippers and zipper pulls are quality, as well as the fabric. And the bottom is reinforced, weatherproof. Highly recommend. Even though they describe room for one camera, this version would definitely hold your gear, as described. Check out their other versions, as well.

Where does the extra lens go?

Camera bags are like underwear. what one person loves another will hate. My recommendation is to go to the largest camera store in your area and test drive a few. My own personal favorites are the Billingham bags. Most bags are dipped in a chemical after being sown up to make them water resistant. Whereas, Billingham bags are made of dis-similar fabrics so they are always water resistant as long as the bag is intact. https://www.billingham.co.uk/ and yes they are expensive but the 5 I own ive been using for the last 20 years or so.

Looked at their offerings on line. Oh yes, quite expensive. I would have to say thanks, but no thanks!

Also, if you are looking at air travel with your camera system, be sure to look at the carry-on and personal carry-on requirements too. It will vary so you will want a camera bag that specificly states it is carry-on. For United Airlines and American Airlines, carry-on is 9 X 14 X 22. For Finnar Airlines and British Airways, carry-on is 10 X 18 X 22. Personal carry-on for United Airlines is 9 X 10 X 17. Personal carry-on for American Airlines is 8 X 14 X 18. Personal carry-on for Finnar Airlines and British Airways is 6 X 12 X 16. I have only been asked twice in 30+ years to fit my camera bag into the "sizers" at the gates, but you might want to make sure that whatever bag you get will be able to be placed or pushed into that space without damaging your camera. I am looking at the LowePro Pro-Tactic SH 200 AW and the LowePro Magnum 200 AW. The length and height will meet the personal carry-on. Even though the width is listed as too large for both, I will be able to push the camera bag into that 6 inch requirement since my Olympus system is small enough. This will allow me to take a carry-on and my camera.
