Neat story, great photos!
The last photo is amazing! Folks need to look at the download to see all the fine detail
All the images are beautifully done but the last one especially appeals to me. He looks so proud of his catch! If you don't mind sharing, what equipment are you using? Nice, sharp, clear images.
Must be hard to coo with a lizard in your beak.
Terrific shots...but where was Wiley Coyote? ;-)

Enjoyed the series. I haven't heard one make a sound before, interesting. I agree, that last one is excellent!
Great captures Pat and thanks for the description of your adventures at Santa Clara.
Great shots, Pat, and I enjoyed reading your intro.
I guess the racerunner lost to the roadrunner! Great series! Captured the wonderful colors on the head! Think the liz is a Western Whiptail AKA W. Racerunner, a name borrowed from the East.
Regarding the cooing sound: the roadrunner belongs to the cuckoo family, so not surprising.

We arrived in time for the afternoon shoot. Then two full days. Then morning shoot and then headed out for home.
Shooting times were 7am-11am and 4pm-8pm.
Time passed quickly.
A target rich, environment.
