My wife was raised in Iowa so I'll be sure to show them to her. In all of the states i have visited I always find beauty. All we have to do is take the time to stop and look.
Beautiful countryside and lovely set of pictures.
Very nice work, Walt. You nailed them all.
Very nice set, Walt. However, you are way off base as to where the meaning of where the word, "Iowa came from.
It is actually old English that got corrupted over the years. You see, way back, when settlers were crossing the great plains, the northern route took people across Iowa, which was sort of hostile and not much was known about the territory. People would hire combination guides/movers to help them with all of their belongings. So, when these folks got to the western border, the guides/movers would stop and hold up everything and tell these people that there was a surcharge of $1,000.00 to unload their belongings from the truck.
The poor travelers were shocked and would exclaim, "I owe you what???" Hence, the Name, Iowa came about. It had nothing to do with the Indians.
You're welcome!
Tom

One usually doesn't consider Iowa as a photo destination. I believe your photos change that, they are stunning, an exquisite series showing off your beautiful state.
Thanks for sharing.
I have lived in Iowa my entire life and you really captured it. Beautiful shots!
I think you've aptly proved your case with this set.

Having lived in Iowa all of my life, I never really appreciated the beauty of the land until I took up photography a few years ago. In Iowa history class back in elementary school we were taught that Iowa is a native american word meaning "Beautiful Land". Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I once had a conversation with a nephew of mine about how if you want to take landscape photos in this part of the country, one needs to be creative, as we have no mountains, few large bodies of water, etc. I'm smack in the middle of the state and drive the backroads often in search of photo opportunities. Here are just a few of the photos I've taken in the last week which I believe show that the state was aptly named.

Your compositions, and use of some wonderful light, truly honor your beautiful land. This is a fine series Walt, thanks.

The Iowa I remember was nothing but snow the whole time I was there, about 3 months in 1963, Jan., Feb. and March. Being from South Texas I really enjoyed the snow and it was beautiful, but then back to Texas and never got a chance to go back.

Very nice series Walt. Serene and peaceful. The root of America, farmers and farmland. Great job.
I enjoyed the back road to the iron bridge, nice image.
