Therefore a whole bunch of wisdom and truth in your story. We just need to look around us (sometimes with fresh eyes) to find the beauty around us.

I think composition in all of them is outstanding. You do have an eye for beauty, and present it well.

Having lived in Iowa all of my life, I never really appreciated the beauty of the land until I took up photography a few years ago. In Iowa history class back in elementary school we were taught that Iowa is a native american word meaning "Beautiful Land". Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I once had a conversation with a nephew of mine about how if you want to take landscape photos in this part of the country, one needs to be creative, as we have no mountains, few large bodies of water, etc. I'm smack in the middle of the state and drive the backroads often in search of photo opportunities. Here are just a few of the photos I've taken in the last week which I believe show that the state was aptly named.

Walt, it does seem very aptly named. I think you did a very nice job of photographing some lovely scenery. I particularly like the last two.

Hooray! We camped in Iowa, at Lake Aquaba [sp?] on a cross-country trip. We were so impressed by the gently rolling hills and rural beauty. Most people miss all that when on the interstate.

Walt, these are very good shots indeed. I really love the last one of the bridge with the cloud above. Very good! Thanks. Boone.

Gorgeous stuff! My family comes from Iowa and I have been back there many times, though not in recent memory. It took me growing older (not up) to appreciate the beauty of that place. Thanks for the reminder.

I lived in Davenport in the early sixties. I was also taught that Iowa meant "Beautiful Land" and I believe it is.

Excellent photos, thanks for sharing.

You have some beautiful landscapes, there. I have the same problem in my part of Indiana, so I understand.
