how much is it?
If you really want to buy PSE, wait till around Black Friday. Keep a close eye on the store ads.
It has become tradition by now to offer the newest version of PSE for about $50 at that time.
This year that will be version 16.
(I haven't looked at it recently, but think the regular price is around $100).

I don't know why you were so snarky to Morning Star, she only suggested buying it around Black Friday.
that wasn't what i replied to! it was the guy that told me it was for girls and girlie scrapbooks. Sorry!

Oh, sorry. I thought you were replying to the response just ahead of your comment. When you want to address someone specific you should click on "quote reply" on that person's post instead of "reply". Just a suggestion but it helps keep people like me from getting confused.
I tried the demo version of this but it was hard to understand how to download this and then very difficult to understand what benefit it was vs an Alien Skin plug-in or better the Nik collection or just opening in the existing Camera Raw option....plus of course using all the existing tweaks available in Elements itself (I use ver. 12)...
I downloaded a tutorial from the elements plus site and all it entailed was how to use Elements...
I removed both the video tutorial and free trial of elements plus which were just a few of its setting (I think)....
Do you have a link to a video that actually explains the full abilities of this plug-in acting program? Even in the demo/trial version it wasn't very intuitive so I need some help understanding why you mentioned it...

how do you get photoshop elements? is it free if you have photoshop?
It's not free. You have to pay for it. Take a look at Affinity Photo for $50, it is a better option IMHO and all your PS knowledge will transfer. Also, you can try it for free. Then own it for life.

Just curious, why would you want Elements if you already have Photoshop? If you have Photoshop CC then it's understandable. You can purchase Lightroom 6 as a perpetual for about $149. and Elements for.
"... about $60-$70." Unless you wait until Mid Nov. when Adobe generally introduces the newest version of PSE and makes it available through many of the Big Box stores (Sam's, Costco, etc.) for $39.90 with some freebie promo, and it is the disc , not a download.

Hi, See the "Quote Reply" link? If you would use that, it will be much clearer who you're responding to.
As to Elements...
It actually borrows upon both Photoshop and Lightroom... is sort of a "light" version of both of those.
At their core, Photoshop is an image editor/optimizer and Lightroom is a cataloger/organizer. They are designed to complement each other.
Elements is designed to be more of a complete, stand-alone software.... with "lighter" editing/optimization AND cataloging/organizing capabilities.
Elements has some limitations, but actually can serve most peoples' "real world" uses quite well. It's much easier to use in a lot of respects, than either PS or LR. Latest versions of Elements have a lot of built in support... you can actually choose between "beginner", "intermediate" and "expert" modes. Neither PS nor LR has any of that sort of support. So, IMO it's pretty easy to understand why someone with PS might consider Elements instead. Also, Elements is sold as a perpetual licensed software... while Photoshop is now "subscription only". Lightroom is available both ways.
I have used full photoshop for years and now use elements. It does everything I want it to do. David

I got it for PSE 13 years ago. Two years ago I went to CC and haven't touched it since. It would probably take me 5 minutes to find it in my program menus. But I keep it just in case. Besides it is a smaller footprint than PS and I might put it on the laptop that I have LR6 standalone installed on. Oh, I also have Corel's PSP and AfterShot as alternates to Adobe CC.
I first got it because others here on UHH recommended it. The tutorial leads to elements because the extras appear as sub menus within some sections of PSE, not a separate program. So you open photos in PSE and work there. If you go here:
http://elementsplus.net/v3/en/overview.htm and then click Documentation that leads to other links. Click on the Buy Full Version it also leads to links by version.
Why did I mention it? Duh, because the original question was about PSE and this is a way to make PSE into a closer clone of PS without the subscription to CC.
If you check
http://akvis.com/en/frame-packs/index.php you will notice that these frames are not just normal frames, but for use in special occasions like the one I posted here, I have used it for portraits, weddings and other special occasions. I don't consider them demeaning and they have been well received by customers.

photo frames as part of the photo!!!! IMO yuck amateurish girlie-girl scrap book stuff vignetting OK but frames confine the foto and add nothing.... if not adding then it is distracting.
If you wish a frame... mount the photo on Laminated Floor material cut to size and do a gallery wrap then put 3/4 in blocks to give 3d frame look.
http://kelbytv.com/photoshopusertv/2008/11/10/episode-159/If you go with PSE, then look at PSE Plus a $12 add-on.
http://elementsplus.net/"As you, probably, know, Adobe Photoshop Elements has not inherited all of the essential features of the full Photoshop. Some functions have been removed, while the others just stay hidden. The "surface" Photoshop Elements functions are quite sufficient for a beginner. As you advance, though, you may miss one or another undocumented function. Here "Elements+" will be of service to you."

Some photographers do this to show a client what their image would look like with a frame. Others may want to show portraits framed on their web sites. I know of some high-end expensive studios that do this.
