Many are not pros though and saving a lot of money buying 3rd party equipment that can match the quality at sometimes a fraction of the name brands cost makes a lot of sense. If I posted two photos, one taken with a Tamron lens and one with a Nikon I believe most members would have to guess which is Tamron. I'm too lazy to do that though, sorry..

Trust me, I know about quality. And third party glass does not live up to the same quality. When third party is sold at a FRACTION of the cost of name brand something has to give, it has to, simple economics. When I shot for UPI, the third party glass was the last to be signed out by the shooters, and the reason for that, we had less problems with the name brand then we did with the third party glass. And, name brand is not that much more, do you really want to trust third party glass for the once and a life time shot of the grandchild's fifth birthday party. We all chose how to spend money. Some things are more important to different people. For me, I trust the name brands and they have never let me down. I spend a little more and I get a whole lot more. Quality always cost a little more, in the long run, the name brand lenses last longer, stay within tolerances better and are worth MORE when you sell them. Many will say that they have experienced no problem with third party glass and they are the lucky ones, good for them, but if you took 100 third party glass lenses and compared them to 100 name brand lenses you would have more problems with the third party than the name brand. When you spend more you get more.

Who was the internet store you bought it from?

If it is a USA warranty, not an open box or return there should be no issue as to where you bought the item as the warranty is good and this sounds like a product failure not a vendor failure. Rare product failure but it does happen.
Good luck, register the products and try to make contact by phone. Then follow up the conversation with an email as to whom you spoke with, when, date and time and what was discussed and resolution promised. This way there is a record of the conversation in case there is an issue later in the process.

I think you were upset at what I said? Yes, Nikon and others have issues, too, but he was asking about a Tamron lens. Maybe you have stock in Tamron? I have a D7000 in a drawer, too!! I was just relaying what happened to me. The lens did not work on two occasions when I was photographing out of state and I was very happy that I had brought along a second long lens. When it did work, the shots were great.

No, not at all but you gave stupid advice and you're being an ahole now. I'm not offended thou. I'm sure you can't help it.

I think I would agree with you for 95% of the photos "I" can't tell the difference on my phone or monitors which is the name brand matching the body. I believe that after a fair amount of post is added I will agree with you 100% that I could not tell the difference. As posted "I" am not a professional and don't expect to be one. I look at composition and clarity. I'm not a pixals peaker who enlarge to 200% to determine quality. I confess I do buy canon glass for the quality. I expect it to last many years after the Warrantee is over. Looking back I could of saved several 100 dollars buying other lens models. Luckily I have not sent a lens or body in for repair. Luck as it is.

When you said "now" implies the lens did zoom and focus earlier. Is it possible that some gunk might have got on the electrical contacts between camera and lens. Also, maybe battery charge status - some batteries reduce voltage as charge level becomes very low.

After 20 years I finally decided to re-join the photography world and buy a new DSLR. My choice was a Nikon D3300 bundle from an Internet store. (might not have been my smartest move). I like the camera and have had fun relearning how to use a SLR again. I have had trouble with focusing the Tamron 70-300mm zoom. Now the lens will not zoom and the macro/normal switch will not move. I've only had the camera & lens for 2 months. I've email the company I bought the system from and Tamron. Have not heard from either one yet, but it's only been a couple of days. Has anyone had trouble with this lens and is there a fix?
Thanks

Sorry to hear you're having equipment problems. I own the Tamron 70-300mm, and it's been trouble-free in my experience.
Tamron's Support website has detailed instructions for requesting warranty service. You might like to check that out.

And you can find a copy of their warranty statement as well.

The internet store was Rakuten.com and the actual seller was Get it speedy. Here's what they email me: "I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the 70-300mm lens. Unfortunately, being that it is past our return policy, I am unable to offer you service. However, I would strongly suggest you contact the manufacturer directly.
We’re here for our buyers and would like to create a most pleasant shopping experience – let me know how I can further assist you – I’ll be glad to help!"
I like the part "We're here for our Buyers...."

I everyone emails both companies them about what they think, maybe something will happen. I doubt it.
Their email Address is "getitspeedy11204@gmail.com" and Rakuten.com is the drop shipper.
