After 20 years I finally decided to re-join the photography world and buy a new DSLR. My choice was a Nikon D3300 bundle from an Internet store. (might not have been my smartest move). I like the camera and have had fun relearning how to use a SLR again. I have had trouble with focusing the Tamron 70-300mm zoom. Now the lens will not zoom and the macro/normal switch will not move. I've only had the camera & lens for 2 months. I've email the company I bought the system from and Tamron. Have not heard from either one yet, but it's only been a couple of days. Has anyone had trouble with this lens and is there a fix?
Thanks

Your Tamron should have a six year warranty. In my experience it will take a few days for them to respond, but they will .
They will give your all you need to send the lens back and turn it around in 3 business days.

So send it back...if your having trouble with a lens that is 2 months old I wouldnt try any self fixes.

I have a Tamron 18-270 with a six year warranty. Now that it is past the warranty (6 months past date) the zoom is not working.I thought it would have lasted longer. I'm sure you will get a new lens from the company

Have it fixed under warranty and buy Nikkor glass and compare it to Tamron. You'll be amazed in the quality and Image Quality.

Who was the internet store you bought it from?

Did you register the lens with Tamron? That starts your warranty period. In my experience, emailng lens vendors is not the best approach. Call Toll Free: 800-827-8880 their customer service number

Thanks for all your responses. I'll give them a few day and NO I didn't register the lens or the camera. Thanks for that input I'll do that tonight. To "MAC" I'll delay where I bought it from. I don't what to discredit a reputable company.

HI,

Tamron will fix it free the first time, at least that is what they did with my 150-600. Use their web site to send it in. I suppose after that, they charge. I got mine fixed and it's been sitting in a drawer ever since, don't believe I can trust it as it let me down twice. I use my Nikon lenses instead and the always work and do a great job. Sorry I cannot be more positive. I did get some good shots from it before it quit working.

Great advice. I sent my d750 in for repairs. I think I'll put it in a drawer and never use it again when it gets back too.

Generally speaking I have found over my 50 years in photography as a pro, sales rep. UPI international photographer, and now retired that I tend to have a lot less problems riding with the brand. ie, Nikon lenses for Nikon, Canon lenses for Canon and Sony lenses for my Sony.

Many are not pros though and saving a lot of money buying 3rd party equipment that can match the quality at sometimes a fraction of the name brands cost makes a lot of sense. If I posted two photos, one taken with a Tamron lens and one with a Nikon I believe most members would have to guess which is Tamron. I'm too lazy to do that though, sorry..

It's covered by warranty so just get authorization to return it to Tamron, and don't fret over it. S**t happens.

I think you were upset at what I said? Yes, Nikon and others have issues, too, but he was asking about a Tamron lens. Maybe you have stock in Tamron? I have a D7000 in a drawer, too!! I was just relaying what happened to me. The lens did not work on two occasions when I was photographing out of state and I was very happy that I had brought along a second long lens. When it did work, the shots were great.

I don't think the issue here was the end result, just how to get it!
