In a poll taken last September, after Trump dropped the birther crap, some of his cultish supporters updated their beliefs, but definitely not all. The percentage who said Obama was born in the US rose to 41%. Which means that 59% either think he was born outside the US, or are not sure:

I never discuss politics with my brother any more, which saddens me, especially since he had a career in intelligence. Anytime I say anything or ask what he thinks about something Trump has done, all he can do is start talking about Hillary or Obama, neither of whom is really relevant any longer... In spite of his support of Trump, all along he has admitted that he doesn't think he will last much more than a year in his presidency. I personally think that all of the scrutiny is so hard on his narcissism that he will resign soon.

This has been my thoughts exactly. If the investigations into trumps relationship with Russia and Putin get closer (and maybe the investigation of his son-in-law is close enough), I don't think his ego could stand the embarrassment of impeachment proceedings and he will resign to avoid the disgrace.
I believe trump could avoid testifying before congress by claiming executive privilege but his son -in-law probably doesn't have this option. His testomony could provide enough evidence that impeachment proceedings will have to commence even by a Republican controlled congress.
