Glad you enjoyed these, Bob.... but no worry, we were not in any danger, the only danger I saw was a lot of poison ivy... at least I know what it looks like, I had to keep warning my friend!!
I'd love to have you come explore with me.... there's so much more I haven't seen yet, also, there's so much more I haven't posted yet... I'm trying to group them by each of the houses we went to, so others can see what I did.
Have a good evening!!
Glad you enjoyed these, Bob.... but no worry, w... (show quote)

Angela my friend, your photos are exceptional. You really have an eye for interesting compositions and have captured the sad atmosphere of the place perfectly.

More from my adventure at the Kings Park Psychiatric Center. I wish they had information at each building so we could find out what it was used for... this one had a 'once beautiful' porch... just use your imagination... now it's so sad to look at!

My dear friend.... I'm so glad you are enjoying this series and it really is sad to see how this institution has turned to rubble... but then again, it was never a happy place!
I'm trying to group my pictures according to the buildings I shot, that way you can really get a glimps of what I saw.
The buildings are all crumbling, but the grounds that they're on is beautiful and so well maintained!!
Hope you don't tire of these.... I have many more to post.

what a treasure trove,Angela! SO many photo ops. Mental health care/ psychiatric hospitals were scary, intimidating buildings and sometimes what went on inside was scary too. As nursing students, we had one quarter of Psychiatric Nursing our senior year and had to live on the campus of a state psychiatric hospital. Glad times have changed but I'd love to go back to that state hospital for a photoshoot now.

Wow! These are quite impressive. It looks like you took some risks capturing these, but your shots and angles made it worth it.

It's a shame, some of those houses were really beautiful. I used to work with some of the patients there. Very interesting shots.

Good morning, Carla... glad you enjoyed this unbelievable experience and that you can relate to institutions of this kind!! My first time there and let me tell you, I was blown away at the size of the property and how many buildings were there... all in deplorable conditions, but what photo ops they are!! It was really sad to see and I know what went on inside, back in the day, was even sadder....
Many more to post....

Thanks for your visit, Vicki... the only risk involved was touching the poison ivy that was everywhere. This 'park' is opened to the public, so if they thought the buildings were in danger of collapsing, they should have fence them off... but thankfully they don't and we were loving every shot we took!!
Glad you enjoyed and I have so many more unbelievable sights to post....

Thanks Elcon for checking these out and you are so right... the buildings once were really beautiful and thankfully the property they are on, is still gorgeoud and kept immaculate, so it makes for a wonderful experience to see!
