Another wannabe here, played bass for a living for a couple years, darn near starved!
Don't play as much as I wish I would now, time is spent with photography and grandkids.
Probably gonna sell a couple vintage guitar amps in hopes of going to FF.
I find a lot of parallels in music, songwriting and photography.

I do drums and bagpipes. One made me money, the other had me out in the street a lot.

I've played guitar and banjo for years, and played in a bluegrass band for the last 10 years. But the big question remains, is bluegrass really music? Ha, ha! 😉

I'm a retired Navy Bandmaster, conductor, trombone, baritone, etc... Now I'm a passionate amateur portrait photographer and loving it. There's no question about the correlation between music and the other arts. Being a creative person is really all its about.

Greetings: I'm new here. Been taking pictures for years with various format and have a darkroom tho don't use it any more with digital, don't in anyway consider myself a professional. I also work at the fiddle and guitar.

Nope, no musical talent here. Don't paint either. I do listen to music a lot and collect recordings. And can read sheet music a bit. I've tried unsuccessfully to play guitar and harmonica. I just am adept at photography.

But I fully agree with the theory that artistic talent can be in several areas. Also artistic talent is often shared with math skills, especially being mathematical and musically talented.

I've played piano since I was big enough to reach the pedals and took lessons for over a decade. I used to be very good. Now not so much. I also played cornet in HS band simply because my cousin had one she would loan me! I even enjoyed music theory.

"Bassman" has a possible double meaning? Instrument played, and model of an amplifier.

I've been playing guitar for over 50 years. I used to gig with a couple of blues and blues rock bands in the South Bay, but I haven't lugged a PA system around in over ten years. (That PA is still taking up space in the garage.)

Very interesting thread. I began playing professionally at the age of 12 (woodwinds) and continued in the areas of classical and jazz for 58 years. Was band director for 34 years in public schools and ended my teaching career with 14 years at two colleges. Photography has been a life-long interest, but got serious about it when I retired the first time and never looked back.

Started playing sax when I was eight years old. Played all thru school from 4th grade to graduation. When I got my draft notice I went to the Air Force recruiter office and set up an audition for the Air Force Band career field. Past the audition and played in The Air Force bands for 15 years.
After leaving the Air Force I went to college and got my degree in applied science with a major in photography. I have been in photography every since

You're correct on both. The double meaning in my case is that I enjoy bass fishing as well.
The Fender Bassman is the best bass amp made Imho. I was never lucky enough to own one.
