or so it seems. The past few days there are been far fewer birds in the garden. I suspect many have left for their summer retreats. The Cat Bird has not been seen for a couple of days and there are far fewer finches. The Cardinals tend to be year round as are the Doves and a few others.

Thank you Sylvia! Next winter I'll start capturing these little guys a lot earlier in the season.

Carol, I am experiencing the same thing. I believe one of the reasons for me is that the natural foods are available thus reducing the activity at my feeders. You have way more experience then myself so you are probably correct, migration. Your series is great and I thank you for posting it.

Greg, thank you! I think it is a bit of both. Migration is part of it. The mix of birds has definitely changed but it is also the availability of food. Fresh bugs are preferred by many. I hear a lot of birds in the trees but they are the summer mix. The Goldfinches are gone!

Thank you very much! I agree that teleconverters have their place and work well when matched with a compatible lens! I realy like the 200-500 lens but it was a little short for the birds I wanted to shoot. It probably wasn't really necessary for these yard birds but when I shoot Herons and Egrets feeding on sandbars and flats I needed more. I have not regretted getting the teleconverter.
