A combo of Canon and Nikon must be called "Saiko Kamera". Loosely translated as Best Camera.
:)
It should be in Japanese script with an English propounciation tutorial.

In a recent post, boberic predicted that Canon and Nikon will merge and name the new company a combination the the two current names. Although a merger might be good, I can foresee lots of ridiculous possibilities for a new name combining "Canon" and "Nikon" - "Canikon," for example. What other undesirable names could those two names produce? Following the trend of Apple and Google, which named their photos programs "Photos," maybe the new product could be called "Camera."
In a recent post, boberic predicted that Canon and... (

If that ever happened Canon would swallow Nikon since they are much larger and have a more versatile lens mount, even though the cameras are inferior

The name certainly could be something beyond comprehension like "Guaranteed Rate Field" in Chicago.

Remember the scandal years ago when owners discovered that their Cadillacs has Chevy engines?
Yeh! But Chevrolet & Cadilac are both General Motors and a Chevrolet LS engine is pretty hard to beat. There have even been some Ferrari owners who swapped out the stock Ferrari engine for a Chevrolet LS engine because it made it go faster. But you could say that is like putting a Nikon lens on a Canon body or reverse that!🤡 Besides there are probably more old Fords with Chevy engines in them than there ever were old Chevys with a Ford engine in it.😋

I seriously doubt that Canon and Nikon would ever merge although Konica and Minolta merged a long time ago. If it happened I don't think it would be an amalgamation of the two names. It would be an entirely new name or maybe both names would be used like this camera.
Ah, the 5D... my first digital slr... sold it only last year.
Anybody remember how Datsun got its name. Seems yours ago when the company told the factory when they needed the cars, the factory foreman is said to have said "dat son."

I used to own a Datsun; now they call it a Nissan. Also, a Lexus by any other name is a Toyota.

Oh, well. If that's all it is, welcome to the club. I prefer to call them "senior moments."
