My first name is Brenda. I love taking pictures, age 76 I have way too many albums. Pretty much a novice, but I do wish to purchase a new camera, not point and shoot, a DSLR. I really like my point and shoot Lumix. Which would be the better buy at this time as it will be my last one. I actually have a Nikon and Canon. Older of course. I wish to be able to change lenses. Why are folks so much into Nikon/Canon and not so much Lumix? I don't want to make a mistake here.
Hi Brenda, I started with a Nikon D3200 about 4 years ago. For me it was the perfect dslr to learn with. 2 years ago I bought a refurbished D7100. The 7100 provides me with more learning and better quality. If I had started with the 7100, I think I may have been overwhelmed. You might check out a refurbished D3200 or 3300, then see if you want to move up later on. I realize that you stated that it would be your last camera, but beware that this hobby is addictive and you may change your mind. By the way, I too am 76 and I'm not sure if I have bought my last camera yet. It's just way too much fun! Donna
