Sigma lens issues with my Nixon D810

Hi there! I bought a Nixon D810 and thought my Sigma 24-70 and my Sigma 70-200 mm lenses would work perfect! I was wrong, they focus very slow and not very accurate. Is there a setting I need to change? Anyone else have this issue? My Nikon 50 mm 1.4 works awesome, fast, accurate auto focus! Very frustrated as these lenses are not cheap. Thanks!

I would venture to guess you have the older, non-HSM version of those Sigma lenses. Yes, they focus slower than HSM lenses do, and slower than Nikon AF-S lenses.
As for focus accuracy you can tune the AF to the D810 NIKON easily.
The downside to older lenses on that 36MP sensor is that any defects or deficiencies in the lens that you may not have noticed on a 12 or 24 MP sensor will be VERY evident on the D810s sensor.
At the moment Sigma has NEITH a 24-70mm F2.8, nor a 70-200mm F2.8 available for sale as both the HSM models of these lenses were discontinued last fall in advance of the release of the new Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 ART, and 70-200mm F2.8 SPORT lenses coming soon.

You might want to pm MT Shooter and he might know if there are firmware upgrades for those lens. I have several Sigma lens and there is nothing second class about them so just ignore the non-helpful answers.

The lenses he has are not "Global Vision" series lenses and are not firmware upgradable at home. The new releases of both lenses coming this Spring will be USB Dock compatible.

If you're dissatisfied with the images, you'll never want to use them. Sell it and try something else. Here's what they have sold for on ebay recently, depending on the version.

Consider KEH for both lenses (Nikon).

Also, consider getting the older version of these Nikons: 35-70mm and 80-200mm. I bought both for under $1,000 total.

Just my two cents here. There's nothing you can do about the speed. You can however fine focus tune your lenses to your new D810, that should greatly improve your focus accuracy. And, it won't cost you anything but time.

I think the Kennedy D810 is a better camera.

Those two Sigma lens make your 36mp D810 into a 10mp camera. Get rid of them. Stick with Nikkor lenses.

Well that's one of the most ridiculous statements I've seen made here in quite awhile!

Some people have to learn the hard way. When you mate a piece of equipment from a specific manufacturer to a piece of equipment from another manufacturer, you are on your own. No warranty, no help from either manufacturer,
and now you are unhappy with both of them, but you saved some money, they made a sale
