For the most part, any of the macro lenses would be fine. Quality, wise it's very much the user that counts The difference shows up with build and resale value. In that regard: Canon and Nikon macro lenses rule.
OUTSTANDING lens!! I love it.
Thank you. I'm excited to receive it tomorrow.
The Tokina 100mm lens is an excellent lens. The newer "Pro-D" lens for Nikkor is top notch.
It is available in Nikon F mount and Canon mount. On a Nikon 3000 5000 or 7000 series camera it has an effective focal length almost 50% larger as it is designed for FX or 35mm film cameras.
I've had the Tokina 100mm lens for almost 5 years. I directly compared it to a Nikon 105mm lens a dear friend had just bought then. She had to admit that the Tokina was as good, and actually better, than the Nikon. For 1/2 the price.
Wow! That is impressive. Thank you for the information.
I should have said that, at the time, both lenses were tested on my D80 and her then new D800. I now use a D7200 with the lens. Jsut ass great.
