i am sad that Bill Paxton died also..however i could never understand why people get "devastated" over an actors death if they have never met them or don't know them personally..agreed..everyone is saddened by bad news of anyones death..however put this in perspective ..be saddened of course..i am too..but focus on your loved ones and treasure the time with them..Actors are people too ..they are loved by their families and friends ..

I just jokingly remarked to my wife a few days ago that I'd might be apprehensive to actually meet Bill Paxton, as his career has mostly been about disasters or other bad things about to happen (i.e. Tombstone, Aliens, Terminator, Titanic, Twister, Apollo 13, etc).
I just read on msn.com that he died from complications during surgery. I would gladly breath a sigh of relief and not get angry if someone were to tell me this was just a sick joke.
This news just devastates me as I always knew whenever a movie came on TV that I hadn't seen before and Bill Paxton was one of the stars, that this would be a film well worth watching. Also it was clear to me from "day 1" that he had a fine personal life and great personal character - a truly great human being.
So Sad, so very, very sad.

Sad but true, sad but true, no hoax. He was a fine character actor and it was fun watching him. He will be missed.

sorry I have never heard of him...........I have never seen any of the movies you list, except Titanic........I left the theatre ... I hated it.LOL
I found a VHS tape of Titanic at a garage sale a few years ago. I copied it to my computer and used a video editing program to eliminate all the scenes that had Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio and the old lady in them. The length of the movie went from three hours to about 45 minutes and made it a whole lot more interesting (less boring).

I wonder what surgery he was having that killed him. If he was having life saving surgery and he died on the table or in recovery, that's one thing, but if he was having lypo-suction or a nose job, it would really be a shame.

Just read that he died of a stroke following open heart surgery. I did enjoy his movies, all of them and even his short-lived TV show.

It is sad this happened to him and his family.

For some it's safe. Stupid is their blanket.
