Hi, everybody. Over the years I've become something of a Cat Rescuer. Not on purpose, it just sorta happened.
I currently have three rescue cats and this is Alice, my most recent. One of her former owners died and the other is in jail. She was abandoned in a house for an entire month with someone making a 150 mile daily round trip to feed/ water her. She was headed for the pound the day after I agreed to take her had I not done so. Here, as an Owner Surrender, she would have been put down fairly quick and I just didn't think that was right. She's had a tough little life but at least now she has a safe home and a couple of sisters.
She's borderline feral but is seeming to mellow bit by bit. I've had her for nine days, it'll take many more before she feels confident and secure.
Anyway, thought I'd share. Thanks for the look and happy weekend. :)

Well done - have to look after our beautiful feline friends.
she appears to be alert and intelligent. Be gentle and make few demands of her and I feel sure she will adjust to you and show her appreciation.
Beautiful and loving cat! I'm sure the three will all be happy together...in time. I have 3 cats myself. Two were born under a wood pile at different times. The first I took in the house because "I wanted a cat; my previous one had passed away." So, she became the "Queen". Then when I discovered the 2nd cat...wondering helplessly with no mother or siblings in sight, in my back yard (she was about 6 weeks old)...I took her in.
Then a friend called me to let me know she had a large litter of kittens that had been found and she was trying to "farm" them out. I took one of them. So now I have 3 cats. The Queen ("Fluffy") wants to continue being the "boss!!!". My 2nd cat ("Rudi") is a charm. She allows Fluffy to boss her around; but because of that...Rudi gets most of my attention; and I scold Fluffy when I see her growling at or smacking Rudi. These two are females! (Yes, female behaviors!!!)
The 3rd cat is a male. I don't have a name for him yet, as I thought he was a she when I took him. So, I'm trying to think of a good name before I take him to the vet for his shots and all. I'm thinking "Cali" after the very tyrannical Roman emperor Caligula. If Cali, I know he will have to fight for his space with these two females...Fluffy for sure!
In the two pictures I'm sending, can you see how sweet and loving they "can be!"... (Rudi on the left and Fluffy on the right). But...you can also see how irritated and bothered they can be...especially if a new can is introduced!

Gorgeous kitties, cthomps! Being the independent critters they are, you will be entertained by their escapades. I hope you'll favor us with more pictures of Fluffy and Rudi and - is it gonna be Cali? How 'bout Caesar?

They're so beautiful, cthomps4! Thank you for taking them in!
I think, through the ages, where cats and does lived together, and I think cats might be a tiny bit smarter than dogs, that cats developed a special appeal for people similarly brighter than your typical dog owner. Cats seem to maintain just enough "aloofness" to show you that they do not give a hoot about you but then surprise you by jumping on your lap and going to sleep. Dogs just slobber all day. Cats kill mice. Dogs kill cats. (Hey folks, am an early riser and do my best to provide the world with a sense of humor. Kevin
Now, now Kevin. My dog kills mice, rats, gophers, ground squirrels, chipmunks, and, unfortunately, the slow bird at times. He'd probably kill a cat if he could find one in the boonies where we live, but so far he only has coyotes, foxes, bobcats and bears to chase which he, thank goodness, has not caught!
I've had several cats and dogs in my life but have grown to believe humans have gone overboard on the whole pet thing. We need a paradigm shift in our thinking about keeping other species as companions.

What beautiful green eyes. I am so glad she has finially found a loving and stable home. She will return the thanks with lots of love when she feels like her world is stable again.
