Linda, I like all three of these because they all convey the feeling of the bitter cold and desolation of winter. I'm shivering a bit as I look at them. Here is a suggestion for the second one. How about a reshoot in portrait format with the tree as main subject and some of that grass in the foreground? And perhaps zoomed in just a bit closer to place emphasis on the tree.

Thank you so much for your interest and your feedback, Tom. Sorry for the shivers, but I'm glad to know the photos imparted the mood I was going for .

Here is #2 cropped. Similar to what you had in mind? There are still enough grasses to keep me happy

I'm hoping a re-shoot is not possible in that we are having some rain and melting, with some sun and 40-degree temps in the forecast!

Yes Linda, this is pretty much what I had in mind. I just like the look of that bare tree standing alone against the cold blasts of winter wind. Good one.

All three are really excellent. I have an interest to someday be in the right place at the right time to get shots like these.

Bleak but beautiful, Linda. I love them all. Did you convert these to black/white?

A lot of feeling in this set, the first one has a type of magic about it. Well composed!

Love the harshness of the landscape. I'd consider cropping out the sun in the first one and focusing on the desolation and geometry. As per a recent discussion topic, this is the kind of landscape that the presence of a human figure would detract. Nice work.

These are my favorite subjects! Love the fog! Good job. My personal preference on the tree is to place it slightly to the right, offset it just a little. I just prefer not centering anything. I love the original but also like the cropped version.

For me, # 3. I would use Photoshop to remove the fence. Nice pictures.

All three of these are great photos, Linda. They really convey how winter can be like: cold and lonely, but also very pretty. Really like your photo of the tree, both the original and your crop.
