Someone here on UHH posted last week about hiking to a spot to find out he left the battery in the car...

Are you speaking of the Kate Shelley High Bridge near Boone?

The High Trestle Bridge is an entirely different Bridge with a bike trail over it, designed and built especially for the bike trail. Here is a photo of the bridge itself and one showing the view of the river valley from it.

If I was on that bridge, I might make a hard right into the abyss below...

One time drove 6 hrs. to my daughter's surprise birthday party. Realized that I had a 2 k sd card from when I was shooting with my grandson. Had to go to jpeg small to have any shots for her.

Loaded up my camera gear thsi morning, drove 26 miles to the trail head, marched another mile with a 28 pound ruck to the bridge - only to find that I left the camerea battery home in the charger.

So you will have to use your imagination to see the Des Moines river from this neat 1/2 mile long trail bridge.

My only consolation is knowing that I am not the first person to be this absent minded.

Ken

Ken, you ARE absent minded! Did you forget your phone has a camera?
If it doesn't, get a new phone!!! LoL

My condolences, but I don't remember ever forgetting anything.

And if you remembered, it would probably scare the heck out of you how just much you had forgotten!!!

Aw hell.

Now I have NEVER done anything like that, or shot a roll of film with no film, or a week of vacation shooting JPEG on the wrong white balance. (And I don't want to hear how "if I had shot raw", its not the point here, I shoot JPEG for many things, and there are countless other UHH posts where the raw snobs can preach their religion).

Thank you for posting. It shows were all human after all.

Indeed! He forgot two things.

Memory is the first thing to go and I can't remember what the second thing is.

Ken,

When I became the team leader, I always do an equipment check with all my guys before we go out. I'm still shocked after 26 years of doing this how often some one forgets something. That's why I still do the check.

Thankfully most horses can find their own water.... even if we forget where we left the horse....

When going on a shooting trip, do a check list. Print your own and use it, Camera, Charged Batts., SD cards, HEAD. LOL
