Has anybody have any info on this store Looking to buy Nikon 810 body they have a good price

Bait and switch. Not an authorized dealer. Nikon will not repair even for a price, much less under warranty.

It's really sad too. Back in the 70s, they used to be a good store. Cheers.

You, like a lot of people, are confusing it with the venerable old 47th Photo which went out of business years ago. While there is an internet presence for 47th ST photo, it is not the same company as the brick and mortar store was. The store being referred to in this thread, 42nd St Photo, is a completely different firm trying to trade on the good will of the similarly named 47th ST Photo. They are not authorized dealers for the products they sell and are well known for bait and switch tactics.

Same would go for Unique Photo in NJ and Samy's Camera in CA. Have bought from both. Prices look to be list, but service was excellent.

A lot of folks confuse 42nd St Photo (STAY AWAY- NO GOOD!) with 47th St Photo that ceased to do business years ago. Like everyone has said, best to stick with ABC if you are looking online. Other places that you should not touch include Abe's of Maine, MrPhotoStore, Beach as these guys sell gray market and when you do call them, they try to bundle in a ton of stuff at inflated prices.
If you are outside on NY and want to buy local, there are many highly reputable stores that would love you business. You should consider putting in a location as to where you are and ask which shops you should look at and which to avoid.
Good luck!

47th Street Photo continues to do business in Brooklyn. They are apparently not owned by the original owners and are garnering as bad a reputation as 42nd Street Photo.

Unique is a very fine store. Not quite in the same league as the B&H candy store, but its still a large store with a knowledgeable staff.

i would say they can still manage to dupe quite a few and i am guessing a ton of tourists..DO NOT BUY from 42nd street photo..it is not reputable at all..stay with B and H photo as your number one choice ..Adorama as your next..i don't know the others so i can't comment on them..

I know y'all don't want to hear some of this. They have an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau. Their reviews are over 4.5/5. That being said, I still wouldn't do business with them. Like it's been said, they sell grey market equipment. Chances are the stuff will work, but you'll have no backup from Nikon. They carry an in-house warranty (I don't think I'd want them fixing my Nikon or other camera). They do practice pressure salesmanship..... And they can be really, really rude.... In short, pay a little more and have peace of mind....

Best advice I can give is don't buy a camera from them. Besides not being a Nikon dealer, it will more than likely be grey market, no warranty from Nikon, then you have to worry about their rep for bait and switch, lousy customer service.... well hopefully you get the picture. Stay Away!

Lenny, if you get to NYC, just drop in on them, ask for the owner or general manager and explain that to him. It probably won't change the way they operate, but there's an off chance you may shock someone at a critical time (e.g., the bottom line just dipped into the red) and change a few things. Also invite them to join UHH and read for themselves what people think of them. Good lluck. Bill

This is pie in the sky! The people at 42nd St Camera don't care about the opinions of knowledgeable photographers. They prey on people that are hoping for a good deal. Remember what P.T. Barnum is claimed to have said, "There's a sucker born every minute!" Now, there's no evidence that he really said it, but it applies to 42nd St Camera's clientele. Don't join their group.
