Since you mentioned lowest price, many prices and very reasonable price in two sentences, let's start with........price.

Nikon and other importers specify the lowest advertised price authorized dealers can offer. If you see a significantly lower price the lens is probably gray market with questionable if any warranty and Nikon will not repair it under any circumstances. Similar for refurbished, and prices will not vary much from authorized reputable dealers. A few have already been mentioned.

While it's true that Nikon controls dealer prices, I've found that some dealers(eg. B&H) will package free accessories with the product to make a more attractive deal. Also, B&H does not charge sales tax in my state where Amazon does.

Yes, I too have bought many items from B&H, never had issue, Excellent C/S, but this time they were $30.00 more in price, so I decided to try Cameta camera, they had many very good reviews, and a good price.

I am looking to purchase the Nikon 35mm dx 1.8g lens, to use with my Nikon D3300 DSLR, I want advice and opinions from my fellow UHH's as to where I might find the best deal, including lowest Price, quality of product, warranty, reputation, reviews, etc. I have window shopped at many of the online stores, saw many prices, reviews, positive and negative opinions, just want to get the best quality with a very reasonable price. So, before I buy, here I am asking for your advice and opinions.

Thank you in advance for your UHH replies.

Been dealing with B&H, Adorama and KEH for decades. If you want to save some money go used if KEH has the lens in stock. Otherwise B&H or Adorama would be fine. They themselves admit that the only real competition they have is their counterpart in New York. Yes I have had people from both Adorama and B&H admit that to me when I was ordering over the phone.

Seem like a lot of fretting over the purchase of a two hundred dollar lens.

Why not get one from Amazon Prime?

Free shipping, no taxes in most states, two day shipping, free return postage, no questions ask.

Plus four year warranty.

From the Amazon page.

Important Warranty Information: All Nikkor autofocus lenses from Nikon Inc. USA include four years of Nikon Extended Service Coverage at no charge. Be sure to look for the Nikon ESC certificate with every Nikkor lens purchase you make.

I purchased my camera from Best Buy, my tripod from B&H and all my Nikon lens for my D5300 from my local camera shop, Tucson Camera Repair. I also have taken a couple of classes from TCR. All of the products worked, all the items were in the packages as advertised and the local relationship that I have now is excellent. The lens you want to purchase is one I purchased locally for under $200. I would use this purchase to start a local relationship.

I have been buying most of my equipment from Adorama for years. They are located near B&H in Manhattan, NY and are a direct competitor. There prices are about the same. In fact, both Adorama and B&H are asking $526.95 for the 35mm f/1.8G AF-S ED Nikkor lens. Adorama includes some accessories that B&H does not. Both companies are outstanding on customer service and returns and both do not charge sales tax if you are in a state like California.

The lens I purchased was the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G. Very sharp. Great reviews from others. B&H have this for under $200 as does Adorama ($174).

Adorama is also a good source. The lens in question here is the DX version which costs just shy of $ 200. The one you referenced is the FX, or full frame, version which illustrates the point that the DX versions are often less expensive and, sometimes, quite a bit lighter.

According to the Adorama website, their current price is just under $ 200, same as B&H, for the new version. Did you purchased used, refurbished or on-sale?

You should take a look at nikonusa.com for a refurbished lens. You can save a bunch over new at B&H. If you want new B&H...by all means

B&H.
There is a reason why everyone says B&H.
Adorama would be my second choice.

I agree...I've used Adorama in the past, but now prefer B&H service.
