My 2016 goal was to not spend money on photographic stuff and to learn to use the equipment and software I have. That lasted until May when I had to have a monopod and ball head. Then in September I had to have a Nikon 12-24mm f4 DX lens and a 77mm polarizing filter. Oh well, I did watch some videos on YouTube about Lightroom. That reminded me that I have been using Lightroom 4 since May of 2012. So, I'm moving to the Lightroom/Photoshop CC in 2017. Hopefully, any new photographic gear will wait for another year.
I did have some success at the Wisconsin State Fair Photography Contest. 1 - 4th, 2 - 3rd, 2 - 2nd and 3 - 1st place ribbons.

Here's my one offering for the year in review. It's a '55 Chevy, taken on the streets of downtown Santiago de Cuba, on Cuba's southern coast. (Castro's remains were buried in Santiago.) I was there on a mission trip in June. This is the norm you would see in Cuba, cars of this vintage.

Ah yes I remember these from my times in Gitmo. Been to Santiago also back then

It been fun watching the progression of many of the photographers on this challenge site. I have been amazed how much how people have developed their skills and shared with others how to do what they have learned. Makes me wish I had more time to devote to photography. Maybe one of these days. Pat and Sharon, your photographers eye and imagination is a wonder to behold. Thanks for doing what you do. Your Friend Rufe.

pg 1 - What a great set. I am going to try and improve my editing skills this year - again using the programmes I already have! I'd also like to try and do more 'artistic' shots......
I did the Emma Davis free online course though I did not manage to do every week, but that certainly helped a lot.
AM attaching a shot of my first view of New York skyline - Simon took us for a flying visit. Sadly weather was horrible but we did see some of the memorable sights; World Trade Centre memorial being the most moving.....

It's my honor to have the last challenge of 2016 and pass it off to RR for January 1, 2017. I also ended 2015 with the challenge "Photo Goals for 2016" - where would you like to be, photographically, in one year. Irenejb will host a similar challenge later in January. Looking back, I had 3 personal photo goals: 1) acquire and improve editing skills 2) Improve and increase my number of black and white images 3) NO NEW software - learn what I had. A little hedge on #3 as I did upgrade to On1 PhotoRAW and added to presets in Lightroom as well as On1. I started 2016 with the first image and am posting the latest version. Folks, post your favorite, your best, your greatest achievements of 2016. Look back and see how far your skills have come.

You have some terrific ones in this series - the star and the "curl-i-cues" especially.
