The EM 1 II is an amazing piece of kit I am reading the details and I want one until I get to the battery life of 440 images double that with a grip and it would be enough for most time lapses but it is also a big restriction that plus the price in the UK runs at £i,800,50 with out the grip. Things are moveing so fast now with camera tech that Canon and Nikon are maybe not the leaders in the field anymore so much so that if I were to buy a new DSLR Sony would probally get the vote. this is a problem you do not think of when you start investing in lenses.I think I have about £5,000 worth of them it tends to tie you does,nt it?

I just shot upwards of 400 images this afternoon...and when I got back, the battery was still at 60%...that 440 spec seems to vary quite a bit...some guys have shot over a 1000 on a single charge...so I suppose it matters on what settings/features you're using.
Oh stop it I really want one now but cannot afford it.

Hi all, I have a Canon 5D MKII and I am worried about the amount of images needed to make timelapses is there anyone out there who can tell me more about the best kind of camera ie morrorless ect I only have my 5D and a Rebel XT that is converted for IR your help would be very much appreciated Thank You.
The cameras you have are just fine for that, there is really no one camera that is best suited just for that!
If wearing out the shutter is your concern then I think your fears are unfounded. A shutter can fail at any time, or never. You mention 900 shots in 7 hours. Pro's often shoot that, or more, day after day after day with no worries. If your 5DII produces the results you want then I suggest you call around to find out what it would cost to replace the shutter, should it fail. I'm pretty sure you will find out that it costs less then buying another camera, new or used.
Cheers Lfingar that really maks sense so I think I will go with that. THANKS

You're welcome!
Here's a suggestion for you: Set up a time lapse at your local pub on New Year's Eve. That should provide some interesting results! Plus, you would then know if it's true that the girls really do get better looking at closing time!
Happy New Year to you!
