To Marion. When I posted my Walmart question I was just sitting around sipping some of the finest aged Christmas cheer. I knew when I asked it would upset some folks. I did learn a lot. I'm new to ditgtl phography. I'm not only learning my camera also my lap top. I enjoy looking at a lot of the photos that folks post. My hope is to be as good as a lot of them. When I started I didn't know anything about the gray market. I had no idea how dishonest some advertising can be. I know the day of going to a real store and talking with real people will soon be gone. I live in Council Bluffs Iowa we had two Best Buy stores. They are gone now. Omaha had 3 or 4 now only one. It doesn't leave a lot.
But there is a upside, when I can ask a question and get a lot of honest information and still be able to piss some people off. That's just fun.
Even when you see a big name store you still have to be careful no matter how cleverly they advertise. The day of making a dollar a little at a time have gone to get rich quick. That's progress !

Be careful on that Rocketship you ride. It's got the biggest stock engine out there. Or close to it. Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.

OK this is going to be fun. And more than easy. First off when I see Walmart name in bold lettersletters above a advertising add I'm going to think this is Walmart. Then when I see the word International model that means nothing to a new guy. They are deffently preying on ignorance. They are putting there name for a dollar and don't care that it might be deceiving.
As for your promotions you should be proud. I'm sure you worked very hard for them. Walmart isn't known for there genoresty to employees. The law sutes by employees speak for them self's. I'm not going to tell ya they lost most.
I work for Con Agra frozen foods in Council Bluffs Iowa. I was making ( $19.50 hr working 65+ hours a week) I was a forklift driver going into the blast freazer ( -60 bellow) . I could work for Tyson frozen foods for half the money mostly doing the same thing. The big Difference is we have a Union.
I was a Iron foundry worker for 25 years and I'm very proud to say I am a Juryman molder. At that time I made more money per hour than I was making at Con Agra. All I had to was sell my education and lungs. Yep cheap at any price
My little brother drives a city bus. He makes about $21.00 dollars a hour. You would think that's a lot of money per hour. And I would agree. But when he has Ben hit, spit, cussed some shot I kinda think not. These guys are AFCLCIO. If anybody is looking after working guy its Unions.
If you would like to learn more you should look up Ford moters or Cole miners and the best of all railroad. If that does not make you a beliver I can't fix stupid

Dave,

I did know that I was purchasing it through 47st. The problem lies in the fact that neither retailer posted that it was an international version, which would have been the honest thing to do. (See Amazon's postings) This was only found out AFTER receiving the box with a UPC # and calling Nikon. By the way, Walmart AND Walmart.com are both listed by Nikon as Authorized Dealers. This would imply that there would be a standard. Walmart needs to be up front and honest.

What Walmart really needs to do, AND I have made this point both on here AND to Walmart is make sure that people understand that they are not purchasing from Walmart before they pull the trigger and make the purchase. We have all (on here) stated that 42nd street is bad and 47th street is questionable. Having said that, Walmart does need to make sure that their customers (even those that mistakenly do so) purchase from a non-Walmart vender through a Walmart site. I hope that your battle with Walmart does something to get them to straighten out this issue.
If you didn't know and by now you probably do, you can reach Walmart Corporate at 1800 Walmart (or 1(800) 925-6278. I have them on speed dial when I go to a local Walmart and either get lousy service (Walmart requires that the manager open more checkout lanes if there are more than 3 people in a line and additional "closed" registers are available. Opening self checkouts counts. My local is a 24 hour grocery and had all of the self checkouts closed and 2 registers open. There were 15 people in each line (many with carts of groceries) and the Night manager (yes I know who he is) walked up and looked then went out to smoke a cigarette. I casually mentioned it to him and he said, yeah and they'll still be there when I get back." I called corporate and told them. They called the store. The night manager told them that he didn't have any register trained people. ( Explained to the manager that ALL night stockers and personnel are REQUIRED by corporate to be register trained.. I also pointed out that HE (the Manager) is required to check if there is no one else available. He No longer works in that store and the Store Manager was also demoted to another store.

My point is that Corporate does follow up.

One person recommends you ask Walmart for an answer but to be negative here most Walmart employee are not smart enough to know and give you the correct answer for my own experience. Always question you get from any employee from other sources first.

Geesus. Not smart enough? Come on. Perhaps not knowledgeable enough. But that deficiency never stopped 85% of the posters on this site from providing an opinion or sharing their misinformation.

You are Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. Walmart is an authorized Nikon dealer. HOWVER!!! The Walmart website clearly states that some of the items offered on the website are from NON-WALMART dealers. The ones that have items "Shipped from 47th Street Photo, Joe's Camera Palace (made up name so no offense meant to any real store) and other shipping points that are NOT WALMART (Hint, have it shipped for free and pick it up in your LOCAL Walmart. You will notice that this service is not offered if the seller is NOT Walmart. Cameta is also advertising on Walmart (they are an authorized dealer too). Just remember just because you saw it on the website doesn't mean it is really from Walmart and they will NOT support it.
You are Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. Walmart is an author... (show quote)

Nikon lists WalMart as a dealer.
FWIW---WalMart is NOT an authorized Canon Dealer.

I just had to call the 800# you provided. I also asked why the customer comment cards are no longer provided in the store.

When it comes to any kind of technical details, Walmart employees are usually dumb as bricks.

You can probably say that about the clerks at almost any big-box store. Several years ago a youngster wearing a yellow-on-blue smock very earnestly explained to me that having "burst" was nothing special, they simply used the video capability to make a few frames and then wrote each frame out as a separate image. He was dumbfounded when I told him that I currently had two cameras - a Rebel that did burst but not video, and an Elph that did video but not burst.
