I took this shot earlier this year with my Nikon D600 while on vacation in Panama. I like it but can't decide which is more impactful - color or B&W. Unfortunately, I shot in JPEG instead of RAW (somewhat newbie to RAW). I've included the original files so the meta data is available. The photos have minimal post-processing (also a newbie in LR).
I just joined the forum recently and would appreciate any and all opinions (and even some sarcasm I see on the forum!) on:
B&W vs color
Composition
Bokeh
even....is it a good photo?
etc.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Roy...and I prefer the color version
Color, for me, there is too much going on for B&W. B&W for me is where there is less going on in the background. The wheel would be better seen with a desert background.

I'm a fan of mono, but like some of the other posters, I would opt for the color on this shot. The mono just doesn't zing like most monos do.
I do beleave the group has spoken color

I prefer the color shot, but I have the same answer almost always. They are two different pictures. The only time you need to choose is if you can only display one.
Having been an Industrial Arts teacher who taught Graphic Arts and Photography; I taught my Photography students not only Black and White, also Color as well. My reasoning; we view the world around us,in Color which is natural; to make an impression and place emphasis on your subject, then use black and white.
I like both. Why not play with both of them and see what you come up with. I love cranking up the contrast and saturation to a point.
