Consider the Nikon Coolpix P900 - longest range in a P&S camera, stablized lens. It's fairly large in the hands, though light ...... and has a viewfinder.

I have had my SX50 for over 3 years...taken tens of thousands of pics with it. I thought of upgrading to the SX60...then thought the better of it...glad I stuck with this one...takes better pics form what I hear and the extra zoom at that end does not make that much difference. Hope to use it much more before even thinking of another camera. FWIW. Marc :-)

I am so extremely pleased with my SX50HS that I favor it over my Nikon 800e and all the top lenses I have for it. Lighter, more compact, just as high IQ for me. I haven't really felt the need for the higher res viewfinder, but maybe it's just my style to not NEED it. I think I'd take the offer of a lightly used one for $300 just to have a back up. Np learning curve.
