Rob, do you send them the 5 as samples to make sure they are ok with your edits, tone, style etc?

What you think looks really great, say B&W they may hate. I give the B&W and the color one making the 150.
Something else I do, I may shoot 500 pix but I only give them the very best , maybe 50 or a bit more at the most.
Sometimes im told the people want every image shot , I still go in and delete what I think are the bad ones. They never figure it out.
Thanks BDK! i am going to use plenty of this advice!

CaptainC -- GREAT information. i have thought through your email and will be taking much from it. i have a job sitting infront of me to try a new approach. Follow up if you don't mind: Start to finish and with no unusual road bumps what is your start to finish time once the actual session has been held? Do you use an assistant when you do environmental sessions?
Thanks so much!! ACE
My sales sessions last 90 minutes. I ti is interesting that no matter how much they spend, the session is 80-100 minutes. Now last night was unusual as it took almost 2 1/2 hours, but they spent just under $3000, so the extra hour was just fine. :-)
I have an assistant 90+% of the time. sometimes two. They hold lights, reflectors, keep an eye on hair and clothing, help hump gear, etc. So could I do it alone? Of course, but having help makes things run smoother—especially help that is experienced working with me and know what I expect.
To keep them invested in the process, I pay a percentage of the sale.
Nice!!! Thanks for this... i luv the % of sales angle. U might be my new mentor!!

Hi,
I send them 5 images that I LIKE from the photoshoot. I edited those to give my clients / friends an idea what can be done. But ultimately its up to them to pick the ones they want. The max I send is 75-80 images.
Rob
I love your pragmatic approach. UHH is lucky to have you as a member as you always give great advise — straight forward without bull or embellishments. I don't do portrait work but my first thoughts were – wow – showing someone 150 images and in different tones would be terribly confusing.
