I use Nikon Transfer to upload photos from a point and shoot (Sony DSC series). The Nikon software was fine with El Capitan, but can't find the camera with Sierra. So, I copy them by dragging and dropping, but it means opening windows and manually deleting files from the SD card etc.

All I can say is thank God for "Time Machine". After the upgrade the following did not work - Howdah - MapUtility - Siri did not understand a word I said. Lost a rename utility. The list goes on and on. Word to the wise - "Run Time Machine first" I didn't and lost some stuff. My time machine backup was 3 months old. I now run time machine weekly

For those that are having issues, try to run Disk Utility, then reboot. It might solve some of your issues. Also, I am running 16gb RAM which has helped a lot from my old laptop which had only 8gb RAM. And clean up your desktop, get your files organized into folders, put them on your HD and make aliases for them. Some people have way too many files on their desktop and it just gags the speed.

El Capitan eliminated the ability to set up RAID disks from Disk Utility and so did Sierra. You can still do it from Terminal, but why does Apple do these stupid things?

Maybe they don't make a RAID drive. My Sierra seems to crash when I let the cursor glide over the sharpen tool. I don't even need to click. If the cursor gets in the sharpen box, I get the crash message.

Most companies selling RAID arrays will provide software to configure them.

Apple is supposed to be working on a completely new and radically different disk format that is better suited to the characteristics of modern storage devices. It should be coming in an update to MacOS Sierra. Perhaps that is why they haven't wasted their time on RAID configuration recently...

In the meantime it would be nice if they wouldn't mess up all the time-tested existing raid devices!

This is why I still keep three generations of operating systems (10.6.8, 10.10.5, 10.12.0) active... Apple keeps breaking their old systems and their, and third-party software, as they evolve.

It seems there is always a legacy system that we need and want to continue to use, and cannot justify replacing with something new. I STILL have a PowerMac G4 loaded with OS 9.2.2 and PageMaker 6.5. I haven't booted it in over a year, but my wife has lots of old PM files that "might" need to be edited and re-used.

When I left Lifetouch, they were still using FoxPro databases that were designed in the 1990s. They had a major systems project underway to replace those, but somehow the deadlines kept getting moved forward. The same thing happened at Herff Jones, where we had a systems migration effort begin in 1995 and end in 2010, one year before they sold our Division to Lifetouch. We were running an old AS/400 system that had been installed in 1994! The migration process was supposed to take "only" five years.

Murphy's law of software: Any system that is ever completed or debugged is ABANDONED in favor of something new, buggy, and expensive.

I know next to nothing about computers but I have time machine, it runs every several hours automatically and doesn't interfere with the usual computer operations. I recommend setting it up that way and you won't have back up issues unless time machine stops working. Good luck.

Installed Sierra only to discover that Photoshop would not print to my Epson SoftColor P600 - contacted Epson and they indicated it was a problem with Apple and/or Adobe - anyone else experience this problem and have any input? Thanks, Wes
