I'm waiting for the jury to render it's verdict before upgrading

Oh yeah, don't forget Time Machine. I have that plus I Carbon Copy Clone my hard drives during the night and just before any major changes to the Mac. And just to be safe, Backblaze backups too. Can't have too many backups.

Everything went beyond good with the upgrade to Sierra on my 2011 Mac Book Pro. As with most major upgrades it took a long time from the download to booting into new OS. Once complete the old Mac Book Pro was and still is much quicker. It was like I got a new computer. All programs fly open and perform as they are supposed including Aperture and Photoshop. Was well worth the time.

Well, it breaks Final Cut Express and FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced... both are abandoned at this point anyway, but I still use them.

I now have THREE startup drives on my Mac Mini, running OS X 10.6.8, 10.10.x, and macOS 10.12.0 ...all because I'm too cheap to upgrade software I don't need very often.

Victoria Bampton, 'The LR Queen' posted the following in an email to her subscribers yesterday:

"The Sierra operating system has now been available for about 3 weeks and it's looking pretty good.

Lightroom CC and Lightroom 6 users are not reporting any significant issues with the latest 2015.7/6.7 update, other than Edit in Photoshop isn't working properly unless Photoshop is already open.

Users of Lightroom 5 and earlier are seeing some known issues, including the Import panels going missing and tethering doesn't work.

I'm keeping my Sierra compatibility blog post updated with all of the confirmed issues and any workarounds as they're reported."

I still use LR 5 since I 'own' a stand-alone copy of that and refuse to buy into Adobe's rent-the-cloud approach. Given that there are documented problems with LR versions older than 6 combined with upgrading to Sierra, this is a show stopper for me.

I used El Capitan. It would freeze or give me a "beach ball" enough times that I went back to Yosemite, which worked perfectly. I the upgraded to OS Sierra.
No more freezes, Aperture and iPhoto work fine, but now it drops wifi when waking up. I will give it a chance to see if Apple resolves this. If not, I will restore back tø Yosemite. There is nothing new that I need or desire in the later releases,

Upgraded to Sierra last week. The upgrade took longer than I liked, however, everything is working fine.

I did a clean update of Sierra on my iMac Mid-2011. I'd only done 'normal' updates since new, so I thought I had lots of junk. No problem with reloading all my programs - except a couple of things due to my own stupidity! All my data is in the cloud and on an external hard drive. I use Backblaze for cloud back up, plus TimeMachine back ups to an external hard drive.

I use Adobe CC and that's fine, no issues. Aperture appears to work fine, although I don't use it these days.

The iMac is now running better than ever. Everything is stable. I haven't used Siri on the iMac yet (and can't yet think of a reason to) nor picture in picture, but otherwise Sierra appears to be a good evolution and works well.

My wife's PC with Windows 10 is a whole different matter. That had a clean install of Win10, but still does 'odd' things. Restarted for no apparent reason last night, and then had a corrupt Google Chrome browser. Wouldn't load anything. Rebooted, but no change. Tried to uninstall Chrome but it would let us. Rebooted again, and now everything's ok again.

Puzzling. Anyway, Sierra is fine for me.

I have recently upgraded to Sierra. Software works fine, but I do have an issue with external NAS drives. Apple support basically said "too bad". I continue to use Sierra and continue to have to log in manually, after every reboot, to my storage drives. Reminds me of Microsoft Tech Support, unfortunately. What ever happened to Steve Jobs? I'm one of those who thinks Apple is just not as good since his loss. Works, but it's a pita because of this.

As usual with Apple, I upgraded as I always do and everything is fine as usual. No problems.
