Tainkc, see caranx's comment. It doesn't give false praise, but is done in a way to help. Both of your comments are condescending. Please attempt being helpful. If your second comment is helpful in your book, then just don't comment. Starting out with "this photo is piss poor" is not helpful. Your comments about the background and being flat are. You mention there are more things to say. But you don't have to. One or two helpful comments is all he needs to decide if he agrees and if it makes him a better photographer. Your "joke" just told him you didn't like his pic and you don't respect him enough to say why, but you do have the time to have everyone think you have (or later you amended to "had") a hot wife.

Let me put it to you another way, and then I am done. I have seen his work before, and for the most part, it is very good. How can one offer helpful advice based on this photo? It just plain sucks, in my opinion. Sure, one can change the background, but all of the elements will be wrong. The lighting can not be fixed adequately in post. The couch has got to go. Her wrist is buried in the soft cushion. How does one fix that? I would hope that the OP posted this just for shits & grins. He is already a much better photographer than this.

To finish my dissertation, I will say that most of my portraiture pretty much sucks the big one also. I have been hit between the eyes plenty of times with comments far more severe than mine, and some, without any helpful recommendations either. I still learn from them. Just like with this photo, many of mine can not be re-shot. It doesn't matter. I don't get insulted either. I just try to figure out why the person said what they said and go from there and make any corrections for next time hopefully.

Sugar coating is for pussy's (no pun intended). When I open up a post in other sections where the OP asks for a critique but adds, "Please be gentle", I'm out of there!

I'm done.

Alright you guys enough of the petty BS.

Its my picture and I'm not upset about the comments what's so ever good or bad! I feel everyone has a right to their opinion. With that said I agree its not one of my best. I had to work with what I had and I had very little as far as lights, props etc. As most of you have seen my work, this is not my studio.
So in future if you have an idea or concept feel free to edit my image where you think it needs improvements and post it. I have no problem with that.

Here's one from my studio of Kylie

I like it as it is. A woman waiting for her man to get home...or whatever...

Umm, I'm no prude, but that is just a bit too explicit for what I expect on this forum.

Perhaps you should remove it from the ones you visit. If you think this is too explicit on a forum that says nude in it's description, just what did you expect, ankle only shots?

Porn shots also involve nudes, but I don't expect them on this site. Thus, nudity by itself is not sufficient criteria for posting here.

That aside, I have seen enough female genitalia to know that they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as do noses. But just as when a portrait photographer chooses a pose or angle that might downplay a notable proboscis, I think a more discrete placement of the model's hand or a silk handkerchief could have made this image sexy and enticing. In my opinion, this image shows too much and demonstrates that less can be more.

You don't like certain styles and you want others to conform to your idea of what is appropriate?

I suggest you simply look away from what doesn't please you.

Sheesh, folks, ease up!!! I am expressing my opinion on this photo. I think showing less blatant anatomy would make the image exciting and interesting. There clearly is a dividing line between what is acceptable or not for this forum, and maybe it has not yet been established. Would you accept a model lying on her back, legs apart? What if her hands were being used to expose more inner anatomy? I am not censoring the image nor this site; I just don't find this amount of genital exposure sexy; in my view it borders on clinical.

I dont like the right knee sticking out, it kind of draws my eye. had the leg been a bit more behind the other, would help a LOT IMHO
still better than my pix though.
