I have gone to several stores around here and cashiers find it unbelievable that I'm paying in cash. Ken you are correct in the government knowing your finances. Maintain low bank balances and even lower credit card debt.
When the world changes the reserve currency, whose money do you think the US Government will be confiscating to try to pay the governments debts. Kiss your savings, IRA,etc goodbye. Don't think it WON'T happen here. It will be worse than Argentina and Greece put together!
And if they manage to get rid of cash, you are really at their mercy. And they won't have any.

If all we had were 1s, 5s, and 10s, counterfeiting wouldn't be worth the trouble.
The world largest printer of counterfeit coupons doesn't have to bother with paper and ink anymore, they just adjust their account balance to whatever they want it to be and call it an extension or loan. Easy-Peasy again!

And when they raise the interest rates the stock market will collapse followed by commodies, banks and all the rest. That's when it really gets fun.

The stock market won't collapse.
They'll get all paranoid and the market will go down, but not collapse.
They're make it seem like the end of the world to intimidate the Fed to keep rates low.
Rates have been much higher in the past without the stock market collapsing.
They're just a bunch of babies.

Ok. Remember your words when it happens.
when there is no cash, the government or banks will hold our money, and we will have to trust them to let us have accsess to it's benefits. you ok with that??????carrying cash gives a sense of power.
no doubt it would cut out a lot of robberies.
If you go to Cuba leave you credit card at home. Cash is king in Cuba. Also US cash is not generally accepted in Cuba. Of the millions of tourists going to Cuba from everywhere but the U.S. They know of and expect to have only cash to spend.
Same with me I do carry a very small amount Β£20-30, that will last me for weeks as I use my NFC bank card and Android Pay for most purchases.

If you need an ID card to obtain a credit card, wouldn't this be racist? It's apparently racist to want an ID card to vote?

I am sure that you are aware that voting is a constitutional right. A credit card is not.
I guess I must be old school, most of the time I pay with cash. I did have one time that they said that they would not accept cash, I told them that they had to. After going around and around with the people there, I left. It was a clinic and I guess they did not trust the people that worked there.
I love cash. Why would you want the banks and government following your transactions.

Think about this--It' really scary. There aint no cash. Virtually ALL the money is in Computers. Investment houses--Banks-- Government everything is in computer accounts. At any given moment only about one tenth of one percent of all the money in the country is in cash. And then think about this. The cash is worthless. It has NO real value. It is merely an agreement. I will give you my worthless paper or coinage and you will give me something I can hold. The value of that worthless paper can and does change constantly. Blame it all on Nixon. He took us off the gold standard. IN 1971 gold stood at$35 per oz. And a Chevy cost $3 grand. Now gold is at about $1200 and a Chevy costs about 35 grand. In 1971 A hundred grand was very serious money. No it won't even buy you 1/2 a run down house. At any moment weare a hairs breath from everything falling apart. THERE AIN'T NO REAL MONEY.
A Resturant here in Tennessee will not except cash because of a robbery incident that caused the death of some of it's employees. No cash, nothing to rob! I personally very rarely carry cash. For me it's much easier to use plastic.
