Another question for DF owners about the DF and manual focusing. Does the Df use a "Green Dot" to indicate proper focus or is there a more apparent indicator? Old tired eyes want to know.

Yes it does.

I would buy one if they remove some of the features on the Df and make it smaller and yet still an SLR. I hope the price won't be much higher than the current Df.

YES! If they would make it EXACTLY like a digital FM with a simplified menu system and a true articulated LCD on the back! Please, NIKON!

Nikon Rumors speculates a Df2 will be released in conjunction with Nikon's 100th anniversary in July 2017.

The rumours that I've seen say the changes would be mostly in the sensor (20mp) and processor (expeed 5).
I don't know if that would be enough of an upgrade for me to drop another three grand for. I've also seen talk up them putting a better sub-command dial on the front, but since most of my lenses have aperture rings which I use, it's not that big of a deal for me.

What features are you talking about to be removed? Because of those features that make the Df different to the others! Df is not for every body unless you like and know how to use it's special "features"!

First of all I don't want live view. Just like video I don't use it and don't want it's there.
Second they could remove the MASP knob. That would necessitate the removal also the S and P modes but I don't use those modes. The A mode can be there by adding an A position on the shutter speed dial.
Third possibly remove the LCD altogether. All settings via menu could be done with an external device (i.E PC, Mac, tablet etc..) as I don't need to make those adjustments in the field. Keep the camera thinner as it's too fat for now.
They could also remove the AF features if they could shave off some in the bottom of the camera. I mean the dimension between the lens mount and the baseplate. It's too tall right now.
If the camera is thinner and the lens is closer to the bottom of the camera there is no need for the grip so remove it too.

I agree except for removing Shutter priority and the lcd. A normal photographer uses shutter priority all the time! And a true articulated screen like the Fuji X-T1 has (and no Nikon as yet has) is extremely useful for we who can no longer get down on our bellies for a low angle shot.

Lone Ranger,

I have had my Df since June of '15. The one thing that tipped my buying decision to the plus side was this review at DP Review: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikon-df and that should answer all the questions you might have.

I have seen the all black version but one of the main reasons for having this retro jewell is to show off all those beautiful top side knobs and controls and the silver version does that in spades!

One of the useful features of the Df is that you can use all the top side manual controls completely 'manually' like we were used to with our old film cameras but you can also integrate that method of control with the underlying 'digital' menu system to set floors and boundaries for the various parameters (shutter speed, exposure, ISO, etc) because under the hood, it is a most capable, modern digital SLR. The review I listed covers all that quite well.

I get stopped all the time by curious folks wanting to ask questions about that 'old looking / new thing'...it's a great conversation starter.

One other question guys, does the Df have auto focus capabilities???

Yes it does, BUT, it is older technology, most of the newer Nikon's focus faster and have more cross points than the Df. This is a fine camera, but if you are wanting to do ANY action photography, please consider a newly released Nikon body.

Oh well but I bet you never use the shutter priority mode on your beloved FM and you never need the LCD on your FM either.

I don't know if the new sensor and processor alone would be enough for me, but if they added the new AF System.....

I wouldn't want to give up Shutter Priority or AF.

For me a tilt or articulated screen would be nice for the reason you mentioned, but not a must.

a tilt or articulated screen is just another weakness in the body, as these tend to break at the hinge.
