I came upon this young lady who was shooting the same thing as I. She is using a D5300. I asked her what model she had and when she told me, I told her that the D5300 was a very good camera and her eyes lit up and a big grin came across her face and she thanked me.
Did you invite her to UHH?
so what camera were you using??

Wow! A Sony. That's funny. Did you notice the young lady focused her lens left-handed. A southpaw. You were right, a Nikon D5300 is a good camera, despite not having the internal body motor. Great shots too.
Question - if you use the grip thing on the camera with your right hand, how can you not focus or change the zoom with your free left hand? Being left handed and having used film SLRs with no grip, was an advantage for me because it seemed natural to use my left hand.do you right handed folks use your right hand to focus/change focal length or your left?

Hmmm... I am right handed and I focus left handed. I have never paid attention before. Now you have ruined me Lol. I will have to start watching people focus their cameras. I wonder how you would determine which is their dominant hand while handling a smart phone?

It's possible to go either right or left hand. If you can use each hand equally, you are considered ambidextrous.

Is this good or bad?
In my opinion, Sony makes excellent cameras, and the best sensors.

I think she made a mistake in saying she had a D5300, she probably meant D3300 seeing that the camera she is holding does not have an articulating back screen which the D5300 does....just noticing ;)
First of all, I loved the photos that accompanied the story. The conversation you relayed, I suspect you left her feeling more encouraged about her photography since was given positive words about her equipment, even if you were holding a Sony in your hands. :) I am right handed as well, but use left hand for focusing too. Not ambidextrous but apparently my left hand can turn a ring a little. :)
