I enjoy the information and opinions stated here. The personal attacks detract from everyone else's enjoyment and potential to learn.

Stay level-headed and celebrate everyone's opinion. This is an open, semi- public forum.

Agree in principle, but you are relatively new here. Over time you will find this is pretty much the norm. Additionally I don't think I have personally attacked anyone in this thread. If I have I'd like to know who.

I'm not going to get embroiled in a pissing contest over the quality of specific photos by anyone. I don't generally comment on other people's work unless I see an image that is truly remarkable and moves me. I personally rarely post my own work because I don't require or even want affirmation of my good shots and don't need constructive criticism, which is generally poor here, for those images I already know are lacking. I've seen too many mediocre images praised to the hilt by those who clearly have low standards. I shoot for myself only and post photos here only for specific reasons when I want to make a point or give an example of something.

It is not a pissing contest. But I don't know how else to get it across what I'm trying to say. With most cameras, WE ARE the weak link, not the gear. Look how much the technology has advanced in the last 10 years for example. Can you say the same for anyone you know? Which means that all this BS about one model/brand being superior to another IS total BS. Irrelevant- when one sees a picture that makes you say "wow" it is due to the person pressing the shutter. Not because the d7200 has a slightly better DR at base ISO. Have you not seen terrible shots with D810? Or a beautiful capture with a T1? You wouldn't if the tech differences were as important as some of these old geezers claim. As it was brought up many times in previous posts by really good shooters, the reason maybe is that these snap shooters have very little artistic skills. A shitty picture is a shitty picture, no matter how good the gear is. "Superior" DR is not going to improve a snap shot.

How about you say it once. Those that agree will, those that disagree will continue to disagree. You don't need to try to convert everyone to your way of thinking, even if you are right. Also, you don't need to respond to everyone who disagrees with you, just let them be. It's always the same few people who after a while, do in fact turn these threads into a pissing contest. If that's what you want to do, that's ok. But I believe that most people see it for what it is. IMHO

It isn't my way of thinking. Facts are facts. Interestingly everyone missed Mark7829's post. He is one of the few on this site who people should listen to. Guess what he said? Look at his work. As good as it gets. The others who are nothing more than armchair experts? Producing snaps for 5 or 6 decades does not make them experts.

Keep repeating lies and they become truths.

If you have a stack of Nikon lenses, why make the change the D7200 is an excellent camera.
Jumping to another body, don't mean your images will be any better. Plus you need to invest in new lenses. Think twice.

I've owned the Nikon D70, D90, D300 and now I have the D7100. If the 7200 is anything like the 7100 go for it. I've given all the other cameras to my grandchildren. They are all working perfectly. I think Nikon makes better cameras for the long haul. I absolutely love my 7100

With due respect, You think wrong, Nikon has had more recalls of their high end models within the past few years than Canon since Nikon started producing most of their cameras and lenses in China and Thailand .

Agree, the top one is better, it has more artistic value.

One thing to think about: do you really want to learn another company's design approach and language?

I had learned Nikonspeak over four years. While I didn't like all their hardware (D7000) I learned their language and organization functions.

Wanting a lighter weight system that Nikon didn't offer I bought a Sony NEX7. The hardware was marvelous and the software had more and better features than Nikon. Bit I couldn't adapt to Sonyspeak (including their dial and button layout) so dumped it.

I am much happier with the D5300 even though it weighs more. Plus it works with all my Nikon glass.

I believe Canon is just as good as Nikon.

BTW I just recently learned you can choose to ignore posts from trolls. Just click on Jim Bob's name on any post from him and then select ignore. You won't see his posts any more and won't feel a need to reply and drive a thread further off track.

Probably the best advice I've read all year.
Thanks!

Maybe you should become self thought - since you sound extremely bitter.

I am happy - and here is where we differ - you think of yourself as a great photographer while I know I am not. But based on your posted images, I am definitely better at this hobby.

I challenge you to find one post where I even intimated that I am "a great photographer". Your command of facts is about as weak as your command of intelligence.
