Great captures. I'm curious as to your vantage point. Were you in a plane when the photos were taken?

Great series. The dramatic sky really made them superb. The idling P-51 is classic.
Keep up the good work!

Try a slower shutter speed to blur the propeller disk. I did the same thing, being more concerned with the speed of the plane etc.

These are indeed great shots, but as startlifter suggests, a slower shutter speed will blur the prop giving it a more realistic as well as dramatic effect. I suggest no faster than 1/250th sec. On clear days I shoot at 1/20th sec but you have to pan the shots.

Nice set... The P51 Mustang B/W is exceptionally attractive

I was on the ground where all the rest of the spectators were sitting in my own lawn chair. I was 3 rows back and the people in front kept standing up in front of me so it was a little frustrating because I had to work around them always being in the way.

As far as slower shutter speed goes, I've practiced these shots many times and any slower than what I was using would mean many more unusable soft images. It's a lot harder to get sharp images of moving planes at 1/200th than it is at 1/400th. I'd rather have a sharp image and Photoshop the prop a little then get a soft image with prop motion blur. I focused on using a slow shutter in 2013 and liked the prop motion blur, but didn't like the fact that 90% of my images were soft.
